Certified Renovator training will be provided at the Weatherization Training Center in Edmond beginning in January. The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality requires companies that do renovations, repair or painting on homes and child occupied facilities built before 1978 be certified by the state and have trained Certified Renovators supervising jobs that will disturb lead based paint. Certifications are good for five years. When Carol Ramer joined the Opportunities, Inc. staff as a part-time employee over four decades ago, Head Start was just an 8-week summer program. She has seen the program blossom to where it now serves 710 children in Head Start, 72 in Early Head Start and 30 in state-funded home-based programs with about 150 staff members.
