CDSA and Opportunities, Inc. Collaborating to
Improve Vision Outcomes for Children

Spot CameraYoung children are being screened for vision problems through a collaborative effort of Community Development Support Associaion and Opportunities, Inc. CDSA purchased a computerized "Spot Camera" which will be utilized in its Parents as Teachers and home-based child care programs. Opportunities Inc. staff will use the high-tech tool to screen children in its Head Start program.

KI BOIS Staff Aids in Effort to Bring American Veterans Traveling Tribute to Stigler

Veteran TributeKI BOIS Community Action Foundation staff served on a planning committee to bring a replica of the national Vietnam Veterans Memorial to Stigler. The American Veterans Traveling Tribute seeks to honor, respect and remember thouse who have served in America's armed forces.

 Little Dixie Uses Social Media

in Community Outreach Efforts

Social media has become an effective tool to raise awareness Jennifer Goodmanof  agency services and strengthen community partnerships. The Little Dixie's Facebook page even helped with the recovery of a flatbed truck stolen from a Head Start center site.

Oklahoma's Head Start Data Published

OKACAA has published its 2013 Head Start fact sheet. The publication contains extensive data drawn from the Program Information Reports that grantees must submit to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

2013 KIDS COUNT Data Book Released

The 2013 KIDS COUNT Data Book shows Kids Count Logo Oklahoma's overall ranking on child well-being moved from 40th in 2012 to 36th in the current data. The data book was released by the Annie E. Casey Foundation in partnership with the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy.

2013 CSBG Highlights Issued

Oklahoma's Community Action Agencies provided services to 151,541 low-income individuals in 71,873 families according to the 2012 OK FFY Community Services Block Grant Information System Survey. The CSBG Highlights was prepared by the National Association for State Community Services Programs.
