Math Success Initiative: Realizing Your Goals
 
UNLV Continuing Education has the perfect class to help you master foundational math skills. Math Success is an intensive 8-week program using an online, innovative approach in a small-group, face-to-face learning environment with top UNLV math instructors. 

This class is for:
  • UNLV sophomores, juniors, and seniors who need to complete their college math requirement
  • Adults who want to brush up on their math skills to enroll in college or assist their high school student with math
  • Adults who want to advance at work by improving their math skills
  • Anyone interested in sharpening his or her math skills
Math Success is a flexible program that starts with your current knowledge and customizes a path forward. Class begins September 30.


UNLV Continuing Education Offers a Robust Schedule of Fall Learning Opportunities    

Sometimes the education and training you need may require you to look beyond the traditional campus. UNLV Continuing Education leverages the resources of UNLV as Southern Nevada's premier university to offer a broad spectrum of non-credit courses each term. This fall there are a number of new courses and programs to build and refresh skills or enhance and inspire learning.


OLLI at UNLV Ready to Inspire Its Lifelong Learners    

With nearly 90 classes and more than 1,500 members, fall 2015 will be a vibrant semester for OLLI at UNLV. The Fall OLLI Open House is scheduled for 10am-noon on August 29 in Room 133 at the UNLV Paradise Campus. The complimentary event is the opportunity to learn more about the OLLI at UNLV program and the upcoming term.

The Fall 2015 Course Catalog may be viewed onlineThe OLLI at UNLV fall semester will run September 14 through December 11. The membership fee for fall is $75 and allows unlimited access to all courses.

New Director Leads UNLV Continuing Education 
Doris Ostrander brings creativity and collaboration to the continuing education experience                                 
 
A results-oriented leader has been appointed to advance continuing education within the Division of Educational Outreach at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Doris Ostrander is the new director of Continuing Education, coming to Las Vegas from Washington, D.C., where she was the director of Continuing Education for Corcoran College of Art and Design. 

Ostrander brings nearly 20 years of experience in higher education policy development, business analysis, operations management, and instruction to her position. She also has extensive experience working with community partners and academic departments to identify emerging educational opportunities and develop new courses and programs. 

Margaret Pickard Selected for Faculty Excellence Award                            
UNLV has honored Margaret Pickard with its 2015 Educational Outreach Faculty Excellence Award for her wealth of knowledge and love for educating others. She has been an instructor for the UNLV Paralegal Certificate courses since 2003 and developed the UNLV Cooperative Parenting program. 

Margaret has demonstrated time and again that she is a gifted educator, dedicated to positively impacting the lives of others. 

Summer Term 2015: A Summer of Inspiration for UNLV Students

UNLV students seized the opportunity to advance academically this summer. Summer Term reports a 6.2% increase in student credit hours, which is more than the past four years combined. 

Cannon Survey Center: Ready to Meet Your Survey Needs 
Survey Results

Cannon Survey Center (CSC) is a trusted partner for surveys, data collection and analysis. With knowledgeable staff and streamlined procedures, CSC can collect and analyze data while maintaining scientific rigor and ethical oversight of the data collection process. Surveys can be conducted online, by phone (landline or cell), face-to-face in the field, or by email. CSC also has bilingual staff to provide survey administration in Spanish.

DEO Points of Pride 
  • Congratulations to the Continuing Education and Marketing staff for winning the Bronze Award for Most Improved Catalog from the University Professional and Continuing Education Association.
  • Congratulations to Sharon Altman, DEO administrative assistant IV/office manager, for being named UNLV's Classified Employee of the Year for 2015.
  • We welcome the following new employees: Marilyn Delmont, outreach coordinator with Community2Campus, Allison Sahl with the Public Lands Institute, and Skylar Stevens, student assistant with OLLI at UNLV.
  • After 37 years in higher education administration, Dr. Liz Baldizan, executive director for Community2Campus, will retire from UNLV effective August 31, 2015.  
  • Sandy SettinaSummer Term office manager, also is retiring effective September 17.
