Ed Nagelhout Receives Faculty Excellence Award

The UNLV Division of Educational Outreach has awarded its 2013 Faculty Excellence Award to Ed Nagelhout, associate professor of Rhetoric and Writing in the English Department. Nagelhout was recognized for his commitment and achievements in many areas of online education.

 

He has served on the Online Education Advisory Council, which works collaboratively with the Office of Online Education to ensure policies, processes, and procedures are designed to provide UNLV students enrolled in online education the greatest opportunity for academic success. Read more.  

Experts to Teach Short Courses in iPhone Application and Data Security at UNLV This Summer

Community2Campus has joined with the Department of Management, Entrepreneurship and Technology to offer two new classes for graduate credit or continuing education professional development. "It is pretty exciting to have this inaugural course open for UNLV graduate students and industry professionals," said Liz Baldizan, executive director of Community2Campus. "In addition, the faculty teaching these two courses are experts in their field." Read more.
UNLV Public Lands Institute Coordinates IPAX Symposium  Cactus Red Rock Background
The 94th Annual Meeting of the Pacific Division of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) will be held at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (June 16-19, 2013). In addition to a broad array of technical programs, paper and poster presentations, and field trips, 21 symposia have been organized. One of which is the International Protected Area Exchange (IPAX) symposium (June 18), organized by the UNLV Public Lands Institute. Read more.
Vine to Wine: Experience it as a Course or Excursion         
The 13-week Introductory Sommelier Program begins June 2. Vine to Wine: The Fundamentals will prepare you to work in the food and beverage industry or help you grow in your wine knowledge as an enthusiast or collector.

  • Mark Fink, director of the Office of Online Education, has been promoted to Associate Vice Provost for Online Education. Dr. Fink has assumed a variety of new roles to assist UNLV and the Nevada System of Higher Education in moving forward in e-learning environments and disruptive and adaptive technologies.
  • Vice Provost Peg Rees and the Public Lands Institute are one of the most popular authors in the historic preservation and conservation discipline of the Digital Commons Network, which provides access to peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, working papers, conference proceedings, and other original scholarly work. Of the 257 authors in this discipline, Dr. Rees and the PLI work received some of the highest downloads.

Does your company or organization need a computer lab for group training? The Division of Educational Outreach has two computer teaching labs at the UNLV Paradise Campus. The PC and Mac labs are available for use for a fee when not in use by technology classes.
