St. Charles Catholic School and Youth Ministry are teaming up to bring you a
NEW after school Service Program!

What is Chargers' Care?
It is a student led club that is dedicated to providing assistance to local non-profit organizations, as they continue to feed, clothe, educate, shelter and provide aid to children and families in need.
Stewardship is an important characteristic to teach our students. This program will introduce 6th, 7th and 8th grade students to the business of philanthropy through hands on experiences and opportunities to meet the people that commit themselves to worthy causes on a daily basis. Those involved are also responsible for making intelligent decisions within the program.

Program Goals
1. Provide hands-on experience in the identification of an agency in need. Students will conduct an in-depth review of multiple organizations to understand the services provided, financial structure, staffing, facility needs, primary sources of funding, use of funds, etc.
2. Students will learn the proper balance between compassion and business savvy to provide the best possible outcome for the chosen agency.
3. Students will have the opportunities to sharpen their research and presentation skills through interactive exercises with their peers and special guests.
4. Students will develop confidence to take on a leadership role in future philanthropic endeavors and challenges.
5. Students will have the opportunity to meet people in our community who commit themselves to worthy causes on a regular basis.

Inclement Weather and School Closings
Should it become necessary to close school by reason of weather or other emergencies, all daytime events at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, including the 9:00 a.m. Mass and Eucharistic Adoration, are also cancelled. Please do not call the school or parish office to inquire about closings.  You may learn about school closing the following ways:

1)    We use an automated telephone broadcasting system to communicate School Closings to you. For snow days, the call will be launched between 5:30 - 6:30 a.m., or the night before if we know ahead of time. The Caller ID will display 816-436-1009, which is the main number for St. Charles. To receive the automated message, a phone must either be answered by a human voice or by a greeting on the receiving phone made by a human voice.  The automated system will not deliver a message to an electronic voice.

2)    An email will be sent to all email addresses on file

3)    School closing will also be announced on all major T.V. stations as St. Charles Catholic School.  The school will not close after the school day has begun; but, parents/guardians are welcome to pick up their children early if the weather is a concern.

4)    Please visit www.stcharleskcschool.weconnect.com  for the latest information about closings and cancellations.  Check back periodically for updates as more information becomes available.  You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest.
