Following the program, there will be a celebration in honor of Sarou and Eirene, our International Volunteer Exchange Program volunteers. They have been a blessing to our students and wider school community this year and we want to celebrate a wonderful year's end with them.

Faculty & Staff Appreciation Week was AMAZING!

1st Place EnergyWiz Solar Energy Cook-off Competition

Another 1st place for science students this weekend at the EnergyWiz Solar Energy Cook-off Competition sponsored by the Florida Energy Center in conjunction with the University of Central Florida.



The team cooked freshly caught tilapia and rice with their fresno lens in coconut oil, and cannoli in coconut water for dessert which earned them a 1st Place Fresh from Florida Award presented by the Florida Department of Agriculture.



The team was invited to participate upon earning 1st in lens and 2nd in recipe at an earlier FPL regional solar cook-off competition. Way to go!!

Students may only wear uniforms with the new logo next year.  "Old/retired logo" shirts and sweatshirts are no longer permitted.

SCS Mannequin Challenge

To kick-off the Yearbook Release Assembly the yearbook staff coordinated a school-wide Mannequin Challenge!



When students scan the cover of their yearbook with the Aurasma app the video of this not so average day on campus will play.

Please pick up any medication you have provided to the clinic for your student by Friday, May 19.  Medication not picked up will be discarded.

Lost & Found - Are Any Items Yours?

Items that have been found around campus throughout the year are set out on a table in the hallway near the clinic.   Please take a look; you may be surprised by what you find and see things you didn't realize were missing.  



Items unclaimed by Friday will be discarded.  
Freshman Advances to National Fine Arts Competition

Karissa Byers recently competed at the PF Youth Fine Arts Festival and received a superior ranking with an invitation to participate in the National Youth Ministries Fine Arts Competition in Anaheim California in August.

644 Pounds of Food Donated

Thank you to everyone who brought in donations for the Food Drive! It was another close competition for Blue & Gold teams.



In the morning of the last collection day the GOLD TEAM was in the lead by just 7 items! But by the end of the day the GOLD TEAM brought in a total of 338 items earning 33,800 points. And the BLUE TEAM brought in 350 items earning 35,000 and the WIN. 
 
As a school we were able to donate a total of 688 items totaling 644 POUNDS to the All Faiths Food Bank to help end summer hunger for kids!

New Addition to Pre-K Playground

Thank you to the PTA for donating the new Pre-K bike path! And to talented artists, SCS parent Charlene Yoder & grandparent Cheryl Watkins, for the adorable bike path painting!

The 2017 Spirit Team Winner is....

...the GOLD TEAM!!!

The Super-Sized Spirit Day was a close race in the Elementary School. But middle and high school GOLD TEAM members helped secure the WIN and 2,000 points for the GOLD TEAM!
 
The Food Drive was another close race, but the BLUE TEAM pulled ahead an earned 35,000.



When all was said and done the GOLD TEAM won by only 600 points.

Box Tops Results

Thanks to all who participated in our collection of Box Tops for Education this year.  Due to your efforts, we have raised over $1,000 for our school!

The fifth graders will celebrate with a class party, Ryan's family gets a $100 SCS tuition voucher sponsored by Morgan Stanley and the Bogue's will enjoy a Der Dutchman gift card.


If you have been continuing to save your Box Tops, please place any remaining pieces in a Ziplock bag and send them in by Wednesday.  Keeping our submissions current ensures we have fewer expired box tops.  This program has been a wonderful fundraiser for the PTA and we will continue to participate next year . . . keep saving all summer and we'll catch up with you on the other side!

Parents and grandparents are invited to attend and may come and go as needed throughout the morning.  The seniors will receive and place their engraved bricks on the "graduate path" in the school courtyard at approximately 10:00am.
 
   
Senior Stroll

Today the senior class strolled through the hallways dressed in caps and gowns to say farewell and serve as inspiration to younger students.  This new tradition culminated with the entire school meeting at the cross for worship music and a prayer of blessing on the class of 2017.

K-8th grade students will be dismissed at 11:30am and 9th-12th grade students will be dismissed following the senior brick ceremony (approximately 10:30am).

You are invited to celebrate your child's accomplishments this year at the Pre-K celebration where all three classes will sing together and each child will receive a certificate. 



Class A and B should arrive at their regular 8:00am time and Class C needs to come directly to the Auditorium at 10:00am.  After the program, Class B will go home and Class A and C may stay until 2:45pm or they may go home.
Senior Accomplishments

Marina Alberici has been involved in many organizations during her 12 years at SCS.  She has participated in NHS, soccer, swimming, track and was the Treasurer for Student Council in 9th, 11th and 12th grades. She was also a part of Odyssey of the Mind since 3rd grade and, with her team, went on to win the World Finals in 2016! Marina has been accepted to San Diego State University, University of California Santa Barbara, University of Florida and the University of Oregon where she was also offered a $36,000 scholarship over four years.  Marina is undecided about her major but will attend San Diego State University in the fall.  Great job Marina!



Mara Baran has been at Sarasota Christian since kindergarten and has been a big part of our school.  She is the current class president, was a representative for Global Family and served as Editor-in Chief of the yearbook junior year.  She also played soccer and was a member of the swim team.  Mara has been accepted to Berry College where she received a $4,000 scholarship, Samford University and University of Florida Sarasota/Manatee. She plans to attend USF in the fall and major in marketing.  Best wishes Mara!





Faith Bresciani has been an SCS Blazer since 10th grade.  During her time here she has been a member of the art club, Odyssey of the Mind, drama and is a member of student council.  Faith has been accepted to Florida Southern where she plans to attend in the fall.  She has been offered a $30,000 scholarship for her freshman year.  Way to go Faith!
 







Trevor Byers has attended Sarasota Christian since kindergarten and has been a great asset to our school.  He has participated in baseball, soccer, basketball, drama and is a member of the National Honor Society.  Trevor has been accepted to University of South Florida and offered a full scholarship for tuition and fees. Congratulations Trevor!











Hunter Clark started SCS as an 8th grade student.  He has been a member of the basketball team, cross country and played for four years on the baseball team.  Hunter will attend State College of Florida in the fall where he will pursue a business degree.  Good luck Hunter!
 
 









Jessie Curry has been at Sarasota Christian since 4th grade; during that time he has been a member of the environmental club, art club and student council.  Jessie plans to attend State College of Florida in the fall where he will major in business.  Fantastic Jessie!










Jonathon DeLaRosa has attended SCS for one year.  He played basketball for SCS and plans to continue playing at Mid-Atlantic Christian University where he will attend in the fall.  Jonathon has also been active in his church youth group and attends a convention two times a year.  Mid-Atlantic has awarded Jonathon scholarships worth $45,000 dollars over four consecutive years.  Good luck Jonathon!
 






Timothy DeLaRosa
came to SCS as a senior and has been a member of the basketball team.  He has also participated in summer camp and attends a convention twice a year with his church.  Timothy has been accepted to Mid-Atlantic Christian University where he will pursue a degree in Business Administration.  Tim will play basketball for Mid-Atlantic and has been offered scholarships totaling $45,000 dollars over the course of four years.  Way to go Timothy!
 





David de Stefano
has attended Sarasota Christian since 6th grade. During that time he has participated in basketball and has served as the varsity basketball manager.  David plans to pursue a degree in digital arts at State College of Florida.  We will miss you David!











Maggie Fee started at SCS her freshman year; she is a great tennis player and was a member our first tennis team this year. Maggie has been accepted to Berry College where she received a $17,000 scholarship, University of Connecticut, Elon University, Seton Hall where she was awarded a $22,000 academic scholarship, Loyolya New Orleans where she was also granted a $20,000 scholarship and Samford University where she received a $10,200 scholarship.  She plans to attend Samford University in the fall.  Great job Maggie!




Riley Hagan
has been at Sarasota Christian since 6th grade.  He has participated in soccer, baseball, golf, drama, circus camp and was the Secretary for SCS Student Government this year.  Riley has been accepted to Ohio University and has been offered a $8,000.00 scholarship; he has also been accepted to Montana State University and State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry.  Riley plans to attend Montana State and major in Environmental Studies.  We are proud of you Riley!


Claudia King joined Sarasota Christian in 7th grade and participated in soccer.  Claudia will pursue a nursing degree at State College of Florida in the fall.  We wish you the best Claudia!















Emma Kral has attended Sarasota Christian School since kindergarten and has made great contributions throughout her time here.  She has been a member of the World Champion Odyssey of the Mind team, ran track, was a member of the Student Council and the National Honor Society.  She was also captain of the soccer team all while maintaining a straight A average throughout High School!  Emma has been accepted to Clemson University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Stetson University (where she received scholarships totaling $120,000), University of Florida and the Florida Institute of Technology (received scholarships worth over $80,000).  Emma has chosen to attend Clemson University; they have offered her a $30,000 scholarship.  She has also won an Odyssey of the Mind Sun Region scholarship for $500.  Emma intends to major in Engineering at Clemson.  Congratulations and best wishes Emma - we will miss you!
 

Payton Lantz has been at SCS for the past two years; during high school she participated in cheerleading, drama and served on the mission field in Haiti.  Payton will continue serving with Adventures in Mission which is an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship.
She will be sent to Cambodia and Thailand to spread the message of God's love to others.  Fantastic Payton!







Japheth Miller came to Sarasota Christian in 8th grade.  During his high school years he participated in baseball, basketball, soccer and went on several mission trips.  Japheth plans to attend State College of Florida in the fall and major in finance.  Congratulations Japheth!










Kelsey Miller transferred to Sarasota Christian her junior year and has participated in track and volleyball.  Kelsey plans to serve with the organization Youth With A Mission (YWAM) after graduation.  YWAM's mission is to know God and make Him known.  Kelsey will have intensive training before being sent to Europe.  We are proud of you Kelsey!
 









Taylor Miller has been at SCS since kindergarten and has participated in a variety of activities during her time here.  She was a captain of the volleyball team, served in the mission field in Haiti and West Virginia and was on the prom committee. Taylor has been accepted to Florida Gulf Coast University; she plans to pursue a career in cosmetology at Suncoast Technical College and also finish her A.A. degree at State College of Florida.   We are proud of you Taylor!





Jamison Mosher came to Sarasota Christian as a junior; while in high school he participated in basketball, track, band, choir and was a member of the worship team.  Jamison plans to attend State College of Florida and will major in engineering.  Congratulations Jamison!















Ruth Ovalle started at SCS in 3rd grade and has participated in a variety of areas including soccer, drama, orchestra and choir.  Ruthie will continue her education at the State College of Florida where she plans to obtain a degree in nursing.  Wonderful Ruthie!















Jeslyn O'Shea started as a freshman at SCS where she has played volleyball and served on the mission field in Costa Rica.  Jeslyn plans to study elementary education at State College of Florida. Best wishes Jeslyn!



















Abby Raber has attended Sarasota Christian since 1st grade.  In high school she has participated in Drama and served on a mission trip to Haiti.   Abby plans to attend Flagler College in the fall where she received the Presidential Scholarship of $3,000, for a total of $12,000 over four years. Great job Abby! 












Jarrett Shamp
has been a great asset to Sarasota Christian since he started here in Kindergarten.  He has been an active member of the drama team, Odyssey of the Mind (since 3rd grade), played soccer, baseball and participated in cross country.  He is also served on the mission field in Haiti.  Jarrett has been accepted to Bayside College, a regional campus of Southeastern University, where he plans to pursue a ministry degree.  We are proud of you Jarrett!






Tanner Stutzman
has attended Sarasota Christian for the past 5 years.  During that time he was active in cross country, drama, soccer and band.  Tanner has served in Haiti and is enrolled in the Auto Mechanics Program at Suncoast Technical College.  He plans to continue his education at STC next year.  Tanner also received the George Cross Memorial Scholarship in 4-H for $1000.00.  We will miss you Tanner! 
 








Nina Vannucci
came to SCS as a sophomore and has been an active member of our school.  She has participated in Student Council, led the High School worship band and was a Middle School small group leader.  Nina has been accepted to the University of South Florida where she was offered a $12,000 scholarship, and also to State College of Florida where she was chosen for the Principal's Award for full tuition for the first year.  In addition, Nina received a $1,000 award from the Woman's Exchange Scholarship and $1,000 from Sarasota County 4-H Foundation Scholarship Awards.  We will miss you Nina!
 


Sean Walsh
started attending Sarasota Christian in Middle School.  He has participated in basketball and drama all four years and was a member of the cross country team for three.  Sean has been accepted to Southeastern University and Liberty University where he has been offered $3,000.00 in scholarships for his first year.  He plans to pursue a degree in Ministry at Liberty University.  Blessings to you Sean!
 




Jing Yao Yang
is one of our wonderful international students.  He is from China and has been at SCS for the past three years.  Jing Yao has been accepted at Marquette University and University of Wisconsin where he received a $5,000 scholarship.  Jing Yao plans to major in Physics.  Good luck Jing Yao!













Steven Zeng
is an international student from China. He has been at Sarasota Christian for the past three years.  Steven is a competitive golfer who has won many tournaments in China and the United States and is ranked in the American Junior Golf Association.  Steven has been accepted to the University of Rochester where he will continue to play golf for his school.  Best wishes Steven!
