Congratulations ACE Scholarship Winners
Congratulations to the following eighth graders for being selected to receive a $500 Accelerated College Education (ACE) Program scholarship for next school year.  Recipients were chosen based on grades, character and leadership abilities.   The ACE Program provides higher-level academic opportunities for SCS high school students in honors, advanced placement and college courses.

2 Host Families Needed
SCS is seeking two host families to open their home and offer a warm welcome to instructors who have been approved by the International Volunteer Exchange Program [IVEP] to serve at SCS for the 2016-17 school year as teaching assistants.

The volunteers selected are passionate about serving Christ, sharing cultural experiences, and learning about different educational practices. They will arrive on campus in August and leave for a summer assignment in June. While extending hospitality, host families will also receive remuneration.

Ms. Sarou from Cambodia, 24 years old, has a BA degree from Phnom Penh University. She has taught elementary students, as well ESL to adults. Presently she is working with a Christian NGO which supports women who have been victims of abuse or trafficking. Ms. Sarou enjoys singing, worship, sports and reading.

Ms. Eirene from Indonesia, 23 years of age, received her BS degree from UKSW University. Since graduating she has been teaching children in a Montessori school, and hopes to one day open her own. Ms. Eirene enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, cycling, dance and photography.

For more information about becoming a host family or supporting this cultural exchange please contact Dawn Graber at [email protected] or 941-371-6481, ext. 262.

IVEP, under the umbrella of Mennonite Central Committee, is a yearlong work and cultural exchange opportunity for young, Christian adults. Every year 60 IVEP participants come from more than 25 countries around the world to volunteer in the U.S. or Canada, where they live with a local family. Click here for general information on IVEP hosting.
Medications in Clinic Pick Up
Please pick up any medication you have provided to the clinic for your student by Friday, June 3rd.  Medication not picked up will be discarded.

Also, if you have borrowed any clothing from the clinic this year please return these items by Friday.  For questions, contact Amy Schlabach at 371-6481, ext. 201.
Lost & Found
Unclaimed items that have been collected over the last quarter/year are set out on tables in the hallway near the clinic.  Please take a look; you may be surprised by what you find and see things you didn't realize were missing.
2016-17 School Calendar
Below are the opening/closing dates for the 2016-17 school year.

NOTE: The last day of school has been moved up a week next year in order for Odyssey of the Mind seniors to participate in graduation because of the timing of their World Competition.
Therefore, we will start school on a Monday instead of Wednesday, and school will be in session the day after Auction.  We also will not have the two additional professional days in February because our faculty only attend the conference every other year.

Download a list of the dates.
