 Calendar Change: No School January 31 |
Recently our faculty and staff were invited to participate in additional bullying prevention training. This is a tremendous opportunity and something we believe will benefit our entire school community.
Because of this, there will be no school for students on Thursday, January 31, in addition to Friday, February 1 (as originally scheduled for professional development). Thanks for your support as we help make SCS an even safer place for all!

Auction Donations Due Dec. 21 for
25% Off Tuition Drawing Eligibility

Be sure to turn in auction donations by Friday, December 21 to be eligible for the 25% Off Tuition Drawing! Remember, for every item you "gather" or donate worth $20 or more, you will receive an entry. (official drawing rules)
The goal of Gift Gathering is to collect item donations for the Auction from businesses that SCS families frequent and support. Gift Gathering now encourages companies to donate before the end of the year and before the holiday hustle and bustle. It also gives the Auction Committee time to enter the hundreds of items that are collected. Donation forms are available in the front office.

Welcome New Faculty & Staff!
|  Kathy Bender
Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent
Mrs. Bender has vast experience in office management and the education system. She is originally from Iowa, but has lived in Sarasota with her family for nine years.
 Tony Hartman
Middle School Bible Teacher
Mr. Hartman has a bachelor's degree from Eastern Mennonite University. He comes to SCS from Friday Harbor, Washington. His wife, Tara, teaches science and math courses at SCS.
Mrs. Bender and Mr. Hartman will be filling the positions currently held by Mr. Graber and Mrs. Steury Graber who are heading off to the mission field for three years. We wish the Grabers the best and are excited to have Mr. Hartman and Mrs. Bender join the SCS family.

This 4-mile road race or 1-mile fun run with a post-race family festival is a great opportunity for runners of all ages and levels to get some exercise while showing their school spirit. Spring Cleaning Early?
Donate Your Used Items to SCS
| Middle school students are collecting used clothing to raise money for their Global Family partnerships. Please drop bagged unwanted clothing into the marked receptacles outside of the auditorium or near the west entrance of the admin/elementary school building.
The Auction & Festival is collecting used items for the Blazer Bazzar & Marketplace. Donations can be brought to the main lobby.

Open House
Thursday, January 24
6:30-8:00 p.m.
| Invite your friends to Open House to see all the great opportunities SCS has to offer. Open House is for all prospective families Pre-K through 12th grade.
Open House is also a great opportunity for current 5th and 8th grade students to meet teachers and tour the middle or high school.

Class Rings & Graduation Announcements
|
 A Herff Jones representative will be on campus in January to offer SCS class rings to sophomores and graduation announcement packages to seniors for purchase. The ring catalogs and samples will be available during class meetings for sophomores on Wednesday, January 16. Orders will be delivered during lunch on Wed., Jan. 23.  Senior families, please visit www.gradproinc.com to view graduation announcement packages that will be available for purchase during school lunch on Jan. 16. Seniors will receive catalogs prior to this date. These announcements are optional. |

Senior Athlete Night & BBQ Dinner
Friday, January 11
| All senior athletes will be honored during half-time of the varsity boys basketball game vs. Lakeside Christian on January 11th, which begins at 7:30 p.m. at SCS.
A BBQ sandwich dinner will be served from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Adult dinners cost $6.50 and children 10 and under cost $5.00.
