Greetings!,
Spring represents planning and growth and the same cycle holds true for the NHBCA. The Business in the Arts Awards in May was a gala evening for business and arts leaders to celebrate together their partnerships that have contributed to the richness of NH's cultural offerings. In addition to the awards, the NHBCA's other work is in collaborating with organizations and initiatives to highlight the excitement that the arts bring to our lives. This spring, the NHBCA worked with:
- NH Art Association on their executive director search as they continued their planning for organizational growth;
- The NH Center for Nonprofits planning for their 4th annual Summit; and
- Lawyers for the Arts, planning the upcoming Arts, Culture and Law day.
Now that warm days have arrived and we are heading into summer its time to savor what the planning produced.
This summer we will continue to be busy as we maintain the importance of the mission of the NHBCA to educate, motivate and recognize business support of and participation in the arts. As always, we thank you for your membership in the NHBCA that allows us to work to bring many things to fruition including these highlighted events.

Arts, Culture and the Law Conference June 24th
The Arts, Culture and the Law Conference, a new all-day event that will address legal issues in the arts and culture communities, will take place June 24 at the UNH School of Law in Concord.
Members of the arts and culture industry-which includes large and small businesses (including individuals), not-for-profits, municipal organizations and others-often do not have a solid understanding of key legal issues, ranging from establishing and respecting copyright, to tax laws, to nonprofit governance and beyond. Many times they do not have the resources to obtain this information and end up seeking help once it is too late.
The Arts, Culture and the Law Conference will bring together individuals from both the legal and the arts and culture communities to discuss these issues. Throughout the day, blocks of one-hour panel discussions addressing pertinent topics will take place. The panels include one expert each from the legal and arts or culture industry as well as a facilitator. Panelists will give five-minute presentations; for the balance of the hour they will respond to questions from attendees.
For more information about the Arts, Culture and the Law Conference, visit www.nh.gov/nhculture.
