Greetings!
There's no question that we take a lot of pride in creating our signature Business in the Arts Awards program. It is well attended, well supported and well regarded. The gala is known for its showcase of the arts, cultural trivia show and the announcement of the winners and what they did to be so named. Twenty-nine companies were nominated for the upcoming Awards and 4 will be named as winners. What about the others and the information presented in the nomination forms? We share this information annually with WMUR-TV to inspire story ideas for NH Chronicle. We also use the information to illustrate best practices. Some of the suggestions in last year's handout "Good As Cash" were inspired by innovative business support highlighted in previous nominations. We know the program serves as a model for increased support. As one nominee said early on, "We filled a table with our employees, expecting we would be the winner. As soon as the descriptions of the winners started being read, we realized we hadn't done nearly enough." They did go on to do more and were named a winner in a future year. The mission of the NHBCA is to educate, motivate and recognize business support of and participation in the arts. The Awards were designed to address the "recognition" part of the mission but really the program serves to motivate and educate as well.
