Be a Champion for Childrens

Giving & Hospital E-News
Children's Hospital Central California Foundation
March 2013
Greetings!

Earlier this month, thousands of Kids Day volunteers attested to the camaraderie that makes our community a special place to live.  Hundreds of volunteers enthusiastically waved down vehicles and sold newspapers to benefit Children's Hospital Central California.

Each year, Kids Day awakens residents to the wide-spread support of our community. We are thankful for the early-bird volunteers and Kids Day sponsors who took part in raising funds and awareness for Children's. You helped us keep a 26-year-old Valley tradition alive and strong.

Although Kids Day has passed, Children's Hospital is open 365 days a year and requires more than a $1 million per day to operate. We depend on the generous support of community members like you every single day of the year. Your faithful contributions enable us to help little ones like Renee Thomas' foster son, Steven, who was featured on the cover of the Kids Day special edition. Read his story and discover other ways to help our patients in the articles featured below.

Kids Day was amazing.  I hope you continue your partnership with us and together, we will continue to secure a bright future in pediatric healthcare for Central California's children.

Sincerely,

PS - The Credit Union for Kids Online Wine Auction closes today (Friday, March 15) but it's not too late to purchasing wine or a travel package.  Shipping costs are included.  Support Children's Hospital Central California!  Bid here today!

The 26th annual Kids Day was a huge success! We exceeded our goal of $480,000 and raised a record of more than $490,000! Children's Hospital would like to thank everyone who participated.

This event was made possible by our gracious partners: The Fresno Bee and ABC30 and our 2013 sponsors:

Super Kid - $10,000: Lithia Motors' Fresno, Resource Lenders , Table Mountain Casino and Wells Fargo

Big Kid - $5,000: Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., Med-Trans and NetApp

Champion for Children's - $2,500: Ahart Benefit Insurance Services, Howe Electric Construction, Inc., Pacific Service Credit Union, Schneider Electric, Westech Systems, Inc. and Wild Electric, Inc.

Without our generous partners, sponsors and community members, this wonderful community event would not exist. Thank you, Central Valley, for 26 years of support!

Including Children's Hospital in your will and estate plan is easy.
  • In 2012, we received $2.7 million from generous individuals who included Children's in their estate plan.
  • Donors often receive current benefits from planned gifts.  See how a charitable gift annuity or other charitable trust might benefit you and the kids.

Loving Care for Baby Steven

A battle against Epilepsy

When Dr. Andrew Mower, a pediatric   neurologist at Children's Hospital, looks at the brain wave patterns of 9 ½ month old Steven Luna, Dr. Mower likes to think of the brain as a computer and that the epilepsy Steven suffers "from is wiring problem."

Read the Kids Day special edition of the Fresno Bee article to learn more about how Dr. Mower is helping kids like Steven at the Children's Hospital Central California Epilepsy Center.

About the Foundation

We believe deeply in the power of philanthropy to save children's lives. When you donate to Children's, your investment is helping to fund life-saving technology, advance clinical services, provide a safety net for children with little or no private medical insurance, and create a healing environment that enriches the experience of our patients and their families.
