Pastor Carrie Alleluia! Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!

Lent, Holy Week and Easter were all so sacred! On Wednesday evenings during Lent we gathered to hear of mission opportunities within our community. We ended this series with a "Honduras Recap". The energy in the room was powerful and all present knew that Holy Spirit was guiding us.

On Palm Sunday we once again heard the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem, "to whom the lips of children made sweet hosannas ring."

As Holy Week began we experienced our servant God, as Jesus bent down to wash our feet. In Holy Sanctuary we also sent flames of prayer to God and experienced the sweet scent of healing oil anointed on our forehead. On Good Friday, we met at noon, as in ancient times the day went dark and the earth shook and Jesus cried out, "It is finished" and he "gave up his spirit." We met again that night to hear the ancient scripture readings linked to Christ's passion. Moment by moment the candles were extinguished until finally, even the Christ candle went out. We began Easter vigil, that time when Jesus descends to the dead.

Early in the morning, on April 20th, before the sun had even begun to grace the sky, we rose and walked with Mary to the empty tomb. There, at Sunrise Service, we too hear the Good News, " Jesus says, "Go to my brothers and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God." Together we exclaim, "We have seen the Lord!"

I cannot begin to tell you the number of people it takes to bring such meaningful worship to our community; and, I can't begin to express my joyful appreciation for the many volunteer hours that people lovingly give. Easter is the Christian Church's' highest and most holy celebration! I sing praise to you God for all of you who helped to make this a season that rang praise to God who so loved the world that he gave his only Son that we may have eternal life!

Alleluia! Thank you! Alleluia again!

Leak Update

The warmer weather has arrived and the pipe has been laid, we are waiting to have the cement poured to complete the project.  We watched during two big storms where the water went, and we are happy to say it went out the large pipe in the back as planned.  So far, no water in the Fellowship Hall!  Praise God.  We will begin to fix the wall in the Fellowship Hall and paint the women's restroom very soon. Please continue to keep this project in your prayers. God bless you for all you do!

water bottles WATER!
The Evangelism Team is now collecting water for the 4th of July float.  If you can pick up an extra case of water when it is on sale, please do so and bring it to the Coffee House or Fellowship Hall.  We hope to collect 3,000 bottles of water by June.

Cleanliness is Next to Godliness!
Thank you to all who helped with the clean up at Mt Hermon this past month:  Judy and Harold Cook and son, Lisa McKinnon and family, Melissa Fox and boys, Pastor Carrie, Linda Beauregard, Chris & Liz Detsch, Jay Perkins, Susan and Jeff Lorenz, Tim Bolick, Mitch Simpson, Mike Faggart, Jim Doorley, Tim Barrier, Danny Garmon, Ron Smith, Barbara Linker, Mike Linker, Monica Matthews, Nancy and Mark Jones, Keith Opel, Tony Kline, Jr., and AA members.  We not only fixed the leak in the children's building, but fixed the leak in the main church, polished pews, deep cleaned restrooms, washed windows, washed down every surface, washed chairs in Fellowship Hall, deep cleaned the main floor areas.  Yet to do:  shampooing rugs in the children's building, spot cleaning rugs in the church, fixing the wall in Fellowship Hall, and painting the women's restroom in FH.  Thank you for your tithing of service.  It makes a big difference.
