President's Letter |

Debbie Tetrault,
PTA President
|
Please consider joining our PTA! Membership for the HCES PTA is due this Friday, September 4 to the HCES Office (or via the classroom teacher).By becoming a member of the HCES PTA, you can become an important part of helping to ensure that we bring the best educational opportunities to our children. Membership allows us to have access to PTA programs such as Reflections, opportunities for awards and grants, and the support of a national organization. Membership is open to anyone - parents, guardians, grandparents, community businesses, neighbors, etc. The HCES PTA Membership Form also includes an area to contribute to classroom parties, teacher appreciation and birthday, as well as an opportunity to order the 2015-2016 HCES School Directory.
Our next PTA event is tonight's Club Hub (5:00 pm), General Membership Meeting (6:00 pm), and Open House (follows meeting) on Tuesday, September 1. This is a great opportunity to meet the teachers, visit with the After School Enrichment Clubs, as well as learn what the PTA has planned for this year. The Scholastic Book Fair will also be open tonight, and we will have some HCES Spirit Items for purchase. We hope that many of you can join us this evening!
Fundraising for our PTA is going well. Please note that the second Support Our Students (SOS) payment is due on Friday, September 18. We are well on our way to meeting our 2015-2016 SOS goal, however, any amount we get beyond budget is more money that we can put back into the classrooms, school, teachers and students. $avetheCity Coupon books or payment was due on Friday, August 28, so please send a check for $20 for your student's coupon book, or return the book to the HCES Office if you haven't already done so. PTA will need to pay for each of the books that are not returned. We will even have a drop-box available at the PTA Meeting tonight! Finally, we are considering different options for the 4th and 5th Graders to offset the higher cost of the Nature's Classroom and Space Camp field trips.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered at the school thus far, or has signed up to volunteer for an event or a project that's upcoming. Volunteers help make our school the fantastic place it is! We still have volunteer needs for Yearbook (calling all photographers!), and for the upcoming Fall Festival, and we could use a few more Room Parents/Guardians in some of our classrooms. Please email a Board member or complete the Volunteer Form in your PTA Orientation packet to share your interests and skills with us, so that we can connect you to a position that fits your background.
If there are any questions about our PTA, please contact me or any member of our PTA Board.
Sincerely,
|

Greetings! August is officially behind us and September comes with many exciting events. My family is looking forward to a little college football, cooler weather, and beautiful fall colors to name a few. By this time of the school year your children have developed new friendships and are settled into a nice routine. I am always impressed by how quickly students adjust to a new grade level, technology, and for our upper elementary students - departmentalization. Kuddos to our faculty, staff, and students for a fantastic first month of school!
We kick off the month of September with our annual PTA Open House. We invite you to join us for Club Hub at 5:00 in the gymnasium and our formal meeting at 6:00 in the cafeteria. Once the meeting is complete, we welcome you to visit classrooms and gain perspective into your child's daily school experience. Our teachers and students have been working together to prepare the classroom for your visit.
Just around the corner, Hampton Cove Elementary PTA will host a Grandparent's Breakfast to honor grandparents and the special role they play in our students' lives. Bottle Caps

Operation Green Team Bottle Cap Program
Collecting Twist On Bottle Caps
It is time to start collecting all the twist on caps. Last year our school earned $850 for simply collecting caps. This year we want HCES to have an impact on saving the environment, as well as trying to exceed last year's collection totals.
Did you know that twist on caps will not be recycled if they get put into your home recycle bin? Through Huntsville City's Operation Green Team, plastic twist on caps will be sent to a recycling plant and reused to make plastic paint containers. Please ask your family and friends to collect caps* also. A bin is available at the top of the stairs near the 5th grade hallway and in the HCES Front Lobby.
Please clean them, count them, and put the total number of caps along with the student's full name on the outside of the bag or inside on a slip of paper. Please ensure they are counted, so the student can be recognized for it. You can even start collecting caps on the ball fields, in the lunchroom, or even at your place of business! We have also had much success with a few partnerships with pharmacies.
For more information or questions, please contact our 3rd V.P. Fundraising & Sales, Callie Beevers at callie_beevers@yahoo.com.
