President's Message
It was great to see all the smiling faces as we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday and National PTA's Take Your Family to School Week at our HCES Reading Fair on March 3. We had a fantastic turnout of approximately 450 students, family members, and faculty!  We hope that everyone enjoyed seeing the reading projects that were set up in our Library, seeing the children dressed up as favorite book characters, receiving a few Dr. Seuss takeaways, and having a treat or two. A special thanks goes to Librarian Suzi Ellett and Dr. Pam Barnes for organizing this event. We also thank Gilbert & Baugh Ford for supplying all of the helium for the balloons, as well as the family of Joy Meyers and Jammie Winton for inflating the balloons.  Finally, a big thanks to our PTA, National PTA, and the AXA Foundation for funding this event through their Take Your Family to School Week Grant.

The HCES Lifetouch Spring photo day was last week, and a big Thank You goes to Annette Neicamp and Toni Wessells for volunteering to help the photographers and teachers with moving the students through the three cameras that were set up to take photos. Photo order packages will be coming home soon in Wednesday folders. Unfortunately, there will not be a make-up photo session for Spring photos, as our fall make-up day is driven by the need for yearbook photos.

Our HCES PTA Board Nomination process is moving along, and I'd like to thank Lori CribbetAmy George, Christina Guyette, Cindi Williamson, and Karen Woodington for volunteering for the nomination committee. The committee is still seeking a nomination for the V.P. of After School Enrichment (2-year position). This position is responsible for the management and organization around all of our after-school enrichment clubs at HCES. This includes planning Club Hub, reserving room space for the school year, ensuring registration forms are on the website, communicating club openings via the monthly newsletter, Facebook, and other forms of PTA communications.

This Announcement provides just a couple of items that are pertinent to the next few weeks - Yearbook orders which are due tomorrow - Monday, March 16, and Pre-K Registration - for which registration forms will be available on Wednesday, April 1. Please note that both Yearbook orders and Pre-K registration are Online Only! Report cards will go home in this week's Wednesday folders, and there's a Teacher Duty Free Lunch this Thursday, March 19.  We appreciate all volunteers that can sit with the classes so that teachers can enjoy a lunch with their peers. Finally, please turn in your bottle caps by Monday, March 30. This is the last bottle cap collection for this school year. There's also a short note below on the updated HCS Course Description Guide, as well as a reminder of the upcoming Huntsville Track Club's Cookie Dash Fun Run & 5K.

The HCES PTA Board again wishes everyone a safe and happy Spring Break. As always, If there are any questions about our PTA, please contact me or any member of our PTA Board
