Introducing HRSG's Newest Team Member 
 
 

I am delighted to share with you news about HRSG growth!  We are growing to serve you better.  

I would like to introduce to you our newest HR Strategy Group team member, Donna Miracle- Canuel, SPHR.  Donna is our Sr. Human Resources Consultant with more than 18 years of experience in management and human resources.  She has extensive experience working with clients in the information technology, manufacturing, distribution, healthcare management and small business enterprises.  Prior to joining the HRSG team, Donna held HR management positions at a variety of small and mid-sized businesses and worked as an Employee Relations Manager with Coca-Cola Enterprises.

Currently, Donna is supporting HR Strategy Group in helping a high tech IT firm re-evaluate and revise their benefits plan.  She is also supporting the hiring process for a Territory Sales Representative, as well as reviewing and creating employment handbooks for our clients in the hospitality industry. TIP:  You get what you pay for!  Make sure you are paying competitively in the market so you can attract the best talent.  If you view employee compensation as just a business expense, you will always be looking for ways to cut your costs.  However, if you view it as an investment in your organization,you can plan for it within your overall company growth strategy. Better talent means more opportunities and potential for growth for your company and your employees.

TIP:  Plan your interview questions in advance!  Prior to the interview, sit down with your job description and create questions that directly relate to the job duties.  For example, if you want to know someone's project management skills, ask them "Tell me a time in which one of your projects got delayed. What did you do and how did you get the project back on track?"  This will allow you to see how the person thinks and responds to critical business issues.

TIP:  Just do it - let the "rotten apple" go!  You know this person - and everyone else in your company knows this person too. He/she has always been a problem and you know that will not change.  You need to make that difficult decision to let someone go, even when it is a high performing employee, especially when that difficult employee is ruining the morale of the rest of your team.  
HR Services for Federal Contractors
Helping federal contractors be successful by addressing their specific HR needs.

TIP: Understand the fully loaded cost of each employee before bidding on a contract!  Don't get trapped in a contract without a complete picture of your employees' fully loaded labor cost.  Set up a spreadsheet and track each of these important numbers:  salary, hourly rate, bonus to be paid, value of paid time off, of bereavement leave, of paid holidays,  employer health care contribution, training and education, 401k match , social security contribution, medicare contribution, federal unemployment insurance and state unemployment insurance.  Get a complete picture so you know your profit margin.
