Coming attractions!
The October meeting will offer you the opportunity to vote for the 2016 board of directors. Each of these AFP members have stepped
up and said "yes" when they were asked to serve and the nominating committee is quite proud of the group of leaders being proposed. We hope you agree!
National Philanthropy Day (NPD)
November is our annual NPD celebration. This event highlights the very generous philanthropists and volunteers in our community and it's always a privilege to be part of this special recognition luncheon. Hope you've marked your calendar for November 10th at the Cendera Center. Register here.
When NPD was first celebrated in 1986, then-President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation officially recognizing Nov. 15, 1986, as National Philanthropy Day. Since then, the day has been recognized by numerous state, provincial and local governments across North America. National Philanthropy Day is formally supported by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and hundreds of other nonprofit and for-profit organizations. We are looking forward to a wonderful NPD luncheon here in Fort Worth and hope you are able to join us. AFP Resource Center I stumbled across this area of the AFP Resource Center recently. Check out this blog led by none other than AFP International President, Andrew Watt. Lots of information and archived blogs that might be of interest to you! Be the Cause (BTC) Finally, please consider contributing to the Be the Cause (BTC). The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy conducts the Be the Cause campaign which is an annual appeal to generate resources to fund AFP strategic initiatives that advance ethical and effective fundraising. Each chapter has a goal based on membership size and previous participation and is charged with promoting the TBC to the members. Our chapter's goal is $1875 and once we reach that amount, we will receive 25% back for local use. Click here for a pledge form you can send by mail or fax. Or you may give online at http://afpfoundation.org/ . Click on the "Make a Gift" icon at the top right of the page. Be sure to log in with your membership information so the Fort Worth Metro Chapter will receive credit.

The Greater Fort Worth Chapter is bringing back leadership circles. We will have a new AFP Connection Circle starting in October and going for 5 or six sessions, depending on need and interest. The Connection Circle will meet on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 3:00-4:30 p.m. or 3:30-5:00 p.m. at a location convenient to where the members of the circle work. We will meet in October, November, January, February and March, with an April session as a possibility.
This circle is open to AFP members with 7 or fewer years of experience and the cost is only $25 . The Connection Circle will be limited to a maximum of 10 participants, so each of us can get the best experience possible. During our time together, we will learn from each other, share our experiences, good and bad, make new friends and enhance our careers. The group facilitator will be Craig Schaefer, a past president of our chapter, recipient of the Ben Franklin Award and over 46 years of nonprofit experience. A co-facilitator will also be part of the group. If you are interested in signing up for this experience, you can register here.
Registrations will be open until Wednesday, September 31. If the demand is high enough, a second group will be considered.
