This week has been a test of taking one day at a time. That old Texas adage of "If you don't like the weather, then just wait a day" is certainly very true. And since time waits for no one, today I'm asking for your help as the chapter gears up for several of our signature events.
Time to submit nominations for National Philanthropy Day (NPD) Awards
We all work with special donors and volunteers. With our busy schedules, it can be hard to take the time to give extra recognition to those individuals and organizations that make such a difference in our community. Here's where I need your help. Please submit a nomination for the one of the five categories for the NPD Awards luncheon. It is a wonderful and inexpensive way to show your appreciation in a public venue with hundreds of other philanthropic people. So, please take the time to meet with your colleagues, CEO, Executive Director and discuss who you should nominate. Additional details and forms are available at our chapter website. Deadline is May 16th.

Time to check out AFP International Resources
I just returned from the APF International Conference in San Antonio where I attended chapter board workshops along with the regular conference sessions. I always like to share the nuggets of good information I receive so here's a great resource for board and chapter members alike.
AFP has two handy resource lists: 1) Chapter Management Resources with topics like how to get support from AFP International and ways to volunteer on an international committee. If you're interested in joining the chapter board, there are helpful job descriptions listed in the next section. 2) Chapter Leader Resources with links for different board positions and programs (NPD, Mentoring, Youth in Philanthropy to name a few).
And where do we find these exciting items? Log in on AFP's site, and then go to the Chapters box at the top right. Then scroll ALL THE WAY down to find these lists. I hope this is useful information.
