OCOM Bulletin
FEBRUARY 2012
Greetings!

Happy Chinese New Year! The Year of the Dragon (lunar year 4907), is predicted to be filled with endless opportunities for change and transformation. While the New Year's celebrations traditionally last for two weeks, the energy of realizing change is predicted to continue throughout the year ---- and is a perfect metaphor for the many exciting transformations OCOM will undergo in 2012.

We're off to a great start! This first OCOM Bulletin kicks off the Year of the Dragon with a number of momentous occasions: The raising of the "OCOM" sign atop our new downtown campus building, induction of OCOM professor Dr. Joe Coletto into NCNM's Hall of Fame, the launch of our 2012 Continuing Education Seminar Series and our Lan Su Chinese Garden lecture series, and a grant award from The Autzen Foundation to provide free acupuncture to Portland's homeless community.

Yours in good health,

Gretchen Horton

Director of Community Relations and Giving

Campus Relocation Update:
Our Building Sign, Made New, Is Raised
Over the December holidays, the historic "Import Plaza" sign that adorned the roof of what was once the Globe Hotel ---- and is now OCOM's new Old Town Chinatown campus building ---- was re-installed. Now restored and emblazoned with "OCOM," the prominent red sign is visible from a number of Portland locations, including looking west from both the Steel and Burnside bridges.

OCOM will open the doors to our new campus and clinic in September. Starting in March, you'll be able track our building's renovation progress online through pictures and stories ---- watch for details in next month's Bulletin!

Supporting Portland's Homeless Community in Service and Healing

OCOM is pleased to announce a grant award of $2,500 from The Autzen Foundation for our Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Health Care Access Project. Developed in partnership with Transition Projects, Inc (TPI), a downtown Portland nonprofit that supports people transitioning from homelessness, the project will provide free group acupuncture treatments to individuals who access TPI's Bud Clark Commons day use center.

You can join us in supporting the health of Portland's most vulnerable community members by making a contribution to OCOM's Annual Fund. The fund supports our mission to provide exemplary patient care within a community of service and healing. Give the gift of health today.
