Doctor T
Light and Motion: Video and Photography
Tuesday March 19th - Saturday April 13th

Doctor T's (Emile Tobenfeld) artistic sensibility is strongly influenced by his doctorate in Physics and his fascination with improvisation in all forms. His sonic and visual experiments apply a scientist's and photographer's eye for texture, geometry, form, and the interaction of light and surface, a strong sense of collage, and an abiding curiosity about technology's use in the creation of music and visual art.

This exhibit explores the depths of projected and printed light, using images created by organic chance.

Animation Workshop
Sunday April 14th
Performance guy and fishy noise artist Crank Surgeon joins up with the 119 Gallery for an exploration in stop-motion animation! Armed with just a digital camera, Crank will demonstrate how to turn nearly anything -- from Sharpie drawings to daily walks -- into something unearthly, surreal, and yes, animated! This tutorial will cover animation using a light table, working with transparencies, as well as post production with software such as iMovie and Audacity. The workshop is open to all ages and levels of experience. Participants are asked to bring (or share) a digital camera with a fresh memory card.

Limited to Twenty people. Email artguy@119gallery.org

Merrimack Valley Time Exchange
Friday April 19th
The Merrimack Valley Time Exchange is a pilot program hosted by the Coalition for a Better Acre to start a community time bank in Lowell, MA.

Ever really wanted something you just couldn't afford? Ever helped a friend or neighbor just because it was the right thing to do, not knowing when the favor might come back around to you? Ever thought it would be nice to track all those little ways in which we each "pay it forward" every day?

The Merrimack Valley Time Exchange seeks to answer all these questions and more. The Merrimack Valley Time Exchange is part of a larger movement focused on community based methods for building value and leveraging assets in a cash poor economic environment. The time exchange is a community driven method for mobilizing people and resources in a way that rewards members who engage in a "neighbors-helping-neighbors" style of building community and social connections.

Come and learn more about the Merrimack Valley Time Exchange.
