President's Corner

Dear Antrim Patrons,

Our musical, Damn Yankees, had a great run and, as I have said before, it was unlike anything we have ever before seen in community theater.  I want to thank Randy Accardi, Andres Perez, Connie Taragano, Frank Caramanica, Kristin-Leigh Nicholson, Corry Doyle, Kim Farewell, Justin Caramanica, Penny Bucafurri and the entire cast and crew for all their hard work to make this a memorable and successful production.

Our final show for this season is the hilarious Neil Simon comedy "Laughter On The 23
rd Floor". This show recounts Neil Simon's time as a junior comedy writer on Sid Ceasar's hit 1950's comedy "Your Show of Shows" working with such legendary comedy writers as Mel Brookes, Carl Reiner, Selma Diamond and Larry Gelbart. Laughter... opens on June 7thso make your reservations now.

I want to congratulate the winner of our Cruise For 2 Raffle, Conor Gillespie. The raffle was a huge success for us and I look forward to what our board comes up with for next season.

Another season is nearly behind us.  Overall, it was another great one for Antrim and I hope you agree and enjoyed the shows we brought you. I look forward to our 77th season where we will endeavor to continue our trend of success.

As you may know the Helen Hayes Youth Theater, a local theater group specializing in teaching young people the art of theater, lost their performance venue at Riverspace in Hurricane Irene. I am pleased to tell you that Antrim is now the new home for this group and they will be presenting quality shows in December, April and July of next year. We welcome them to our family and urge you to come see their fine productions.

We have selected our slate of shows for our 77th consecutive season and opened our membership campaign for next season. In this newsletter you will find a list of the shows along with information on how to become an Antrim member. To accommodate The Helen Hayes Youth Theater we will be offering 5 shows to our members instead of the usual 6. To help reduce expenses in these difficult times we are also taking a year off from presenting a musical. This will provide us the opportunity to divert those funds to much needed repairs and maintenance on our theater. Fear not,  our musicals will return in our 78th season. In view of this we have reduced our membership to only $75. Membership definitely has its rewards as you can see each show for only $15 per show. We will only be accepting a limited number of memberships so sign up now.

As always, I want to thank the teams of actors and production staff who make our productions possible and to the countless other volunteers who work everyday of the season to make this theater run.  I also want to thank you, our patrons, for supporting us. Without you, none of this would be possible or necessary.

Thank You and  I'll see you at the theater,

Marty Andreas
