April Ballot Issues

At its February meeting the South KC Chamber   Board of Directors heard presentations on three questions that Kansas City voters will have on their ballot for the April 2, 2013 election.  Following the presentations board members voted to support Questions 1 & 2 and oppose Question 3.  The following links provide Fact Sheets with information about each question.  You are encouraged to share this information with your employees to help them make informed decisions.


Question #1 - Will renew approximately 1/3 of Kansas City's Health Levy that is set to expire next year.  Click for a Fact Sheet on Question #1


Question #2 - Closes a loophole in Kansas City's ordinance that authorizes collection of the city's hotel/motel room tax that is imposed on conventions in Kansas City.

Question #3 - This question is the result of a petition circulated by anti-nuclear activists opposed to the new NNSA facility in South Kansas City and would prohibit the City of Kansas City from having any financial involvement in the expansion of companies providing materials for the NNSA.

Chamber Board Supports Grandview School District No-Tax-Increase Bond Issue

The South Kansas City Chamber Board of Directors recently had a unanimous vote to support the passage of a $9 million no-tax-increase general obligation bond that the Grandview C-4 School District Board of Education has placed on the April 2, 2013 ballot.  Learn more about the Bond Issue

Help TeePee Community Assistance Council

Throughout the month of March Community  Assistance Council is asking for donations of toilet paper. Families that utilize their food pantry are often on the SNAP (food stamp) program and cannot purchase non-food items, such as toilet paper, paper towels and napkins through that resource.
