Through the simple medium of Tempera paint, we learn to express our true nature and to explore our potential.

Give yourself that! Experience the joy of rediscovering yourself and the freedom this can bring to your life.

There are times in our lives when we must look beyond our selves to the places and people we come from - to where the exclusion began - in order to resolve and heal our creative blocks and our lives.

Constellations offer the opportunity to experience and heal the relational entanglements that may be in the way of our true potential.

Painting Inside Out
What is this painting process about, really? When I see my students struggle, this question comes to me. It helps connect to that essential impulse that wants to express itself through me.

"What would you paint if you were totally free? " is a question I ask a group of painting students. What happens in your body when you hear that question? Or does your mind boycott the question so quickly you can't feel what it does in your body?

Can we feel freedom? Can we sense what it could feel like?

Freedom is not about freedom from the painting, but an experience within your self. If we can experience and recognize it, it becomes an impulse that wants expression, and then we are experiencing freedom in that very moment.

What blocks our freedom? Our judgments and expectations about ourselves, about our paintings. What are they saying, really? :"You can't, should, don't know how...want to, wish..." What do these judgment/expectations want to do: "tear up the painting, erase it, cover it, fix it...." Can we go further and ask: what would tearing, covering, fixing etc. look like? If it had a color, shape, texture, image?

Can you feel freedom and care about your painting at the same time?

In creating this space for exploration, using where you are as an entryway, you can move forward. If you can be curious about your reactions and feelings, you care enough about yourself and your process. This is freedom.

Let's claim ownership of ourselves by paying attention to what is happening inside. Then we can experience our creative impulse and be free.

This is what the painting process is about.

Final thought: The experience of freedom is in the painting process, not in reacting to the painting as a picture.
