Jewish Women's Foundation Installs New Chair
The Jewish Women's Foundation installed its new Leadership Council Chair Barbara Bry for 2014-2015 on June 10 at Claire Ellman's lovely La Jolla home.
Barbara serves as chief operating officer of Blackbird Ventures, which invests in and incubates early stage technology companies. She and her husband Neil Senturia teach entrepreneurship at UC San Diego and write a weekly column on entrepreneurship for U-T San Diego. Barbara is a founder of Run Women Run and San Diego Athena. She serves on the JWF Council and has been a member since 2007.
Paul Downey, CEO of Serving Seniors and national senior issues expert, joined us as featured speaker as we launched a new grants initiative, serving the needs of older, isolated Jewish women. Paul shared the critical needs of our growing aging population.
We enjoyed hearing from new grant programs staff, Melanie Rubin and Ana Kozlowski of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, JACOBS FAMILY CAMPUS, and Brenda Bothel and Shana Hazan of Jewish Family Service.
We greatly thank Tina Beranbaum for her wisdom and guidance as Chair over the past two years! We are so fortunate to have Barbara in our community and as the new leader of our organization.
