Sat Nam & Happy October Dear Yogis! Tantrum or tantra? The first is a great opportunity to invoke the latter. This wild ride of a life is the ultimate testing ground to practice living yoga. See our article below for great tips on how to perform this awesome alchemy! Star Struck
Relationships again rule the October astro influences emanating from a Mars/Chiron square. The energies of the Universe mandate that we mind our P's and Q's in every venue of life that involve another: romance, business, friends, family. We have to be impeccable, honest, and compassionate to avoid misunderstandings, hurt feelings, and arguments that spin out of control. Meditate, meditate, meditate. "Compassionate patience, is in order. Practice being non-reactive and always remember that the other is YOU! The good news is that the total lunar eclipse on Oct. 8th paired with the Grand Trine in Fire signs formed by Mars (in Sagittarius) with Jupiter (in Leo) and Uranus (in Aries) will infuse life with positive creativity and bouyant energy. Do you have a grand vision? Now's the time to implement!

Are you involved in a running battle with a co-worker, former friend, or family member? Are you so pre-occupied with this drama that it causes you constant angst, worry, and sleepless nights? Think of all the psychic energy you've expended on this saga. What if you were to simply disconnect from this dysfunctional dynamic? It takes two to tangle. Instead you can use all of that inner energy to create the success your life is meant to reflect. When there is co-dependence no one ever wins. Someone has to break the cycle!
It's part of life to feel frustrated, out of control, not validated by people and circumstance, or simply aggrieved about the turns time takes. When we're in the throes of an intense emotional storm we have two choices. We can let it control us, in which case we become a human tornado, creating damage and havoc to people, places, and things. Or, we can harness that potentially potent energy and upgrade everything. If we can invoke a little self-awareness when we're in the throes of various negative emotions we can become truly peaceful tantric yogi warriors.!
All emotions emanate from either love or fear. Fear engenders sadness, rage, lust, and pride. Love gives us joy, compassion, trust, forgiveness, and faith.
One of the highest attainments in this life is the ability to turn the tables on negative emotions while they're happening. The Universe loves people who are proactive in this way and rains blessings upon those who can turn wayward emotion into fiery devotion.
So, how to get from a raging emotion to its positive polarity? The most powerful and elegant way we know of involves many amazing Kundalini Yoga techniques that you can do on the spot.
Five On the Spot Emotion to Devotion Techniques:
1. Teepee your hands at solar plexus level. Your eyes are 1/10th open looking down and in towards the tip of your nose. Inhale for 5 seconds. Hold the breath for 5 seconds. Exhale for 5 seconds. 3-5 min. is all it takes to alter your state for the better, best, and blessed!
2. Block your right nostril with your right thumb. Inhale through your left nostril. Hold the breath briefly and then exhale through your right nostril. As you hold the breath try to feel the feeling that has you reeling as intensely as possible. As you exhale let is dissolve.
3. Do the Kirtan Kriya (SaTaNaMa) Meditation. As you chant in the various voices, feel the feelings you're trying to resolve.
4. Chant the mantra Ek Ong Kar Sat Gur Prasad Sat Gur Prasad Ek Ong Kar. Feel Ek Ong Kar at the navel. Sat Gur Prasad at the sternum, Sat Gur Prasad at the sternum. Ek Ong Kar at the navel. This will turn depression into elation and sadness into gladness.
5. Interlace your hands over your solar plexus. Inhale through puckered lips, long and smooth. Exhale long and light through your nose. As you inhale feel your negative emotions expanding like a helium balloon at the solar plexus. As you exhale, let the balloon float away.
6. Bonus technique: When you're experiencing an intense negative emotion that threatens to cause you to do something you'll later regret, simply chant quietly: Wahay Guru, Wahay Guru. Wahay Guru... As you chant, let yourself feel the feelings around that impulse as intensely as you can. Do this as long as it takes until your sense of expansive overview can reassert itself.
The great gift of a regular meditation practice is an overview. That overview let's us see back and forth in time and space. It helps us to understand which actions will lead us to a place of Grace. This is living tantra, the strategy that can turn an all too human impulse into inspired action!

 Low Blood Sugar
I wonder if you would have wisdom for someone who is hypoglycemic? I've been practicing most of my life and I still can't quite balance eating/practice time. I'm either really uncomfortably hungry (like, dizzy and anxious and in slight pain) OR food is swishing around because I HAD to eat! And eating something light like fruit as often suggested is just too sugary. Thoughts? Maybe for the newsletter as there must be others like me... Thanks and love!
Thanks for writing. We suggest eating a few brazil nuts or almonds at intervals during the day. This will help to keep your blood sugar levels more stable. Re: balancing practice and eating. Something light like a piece of fruit (not banana, something with a moderate glycemic index, like a pear) can help tide you over and stabilize your blood sugar so that it doesn't interfere with your practice. A slice of avocado is very good as well. Many people report that taking a B-complex capsule 1x per day helps to stabilize blood sugar. So does the supplement chromium picolinate. Maintaining blood sugar levels is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle in the quest for overall health. Everything from alcoholism and what feels like a weak will in relation to cravings for drugs, to being very flighty in your commitments and promises to yourself, all relate back to the blood sugar issue. Including healthy fats in your diet is key. Chlorella tablets can also help curb cravings. Don't underestimate the power of conscious breathing. A healthy dose of oxygen in the bloodstream is a blood sugar stabilizer. Its interesting that many people have the desire to smoke when their blood sugar is low. Breathing is of course, just what the doctor ordered!
Cold and Flu Blues
Hi, I'm wondering if you have any recommendations for Kundalini Yoga routines that would work well when a person is deep in a cold or flu. Something that might help open up blocked airways and sooth body aches, but is still really gentle and do-able when you can barely move out of bed.Tangentially, do you have suggestions for when you feel sickness coming on, that might help ward off a virus and boost the immune system before it takes hold? I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks,Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. When you're deep into a cold or flu we suggest Sitali Pranayam. This will help you to detox and speed up the healing process. You can even do this while flat on your back in bed. When you're too under the weather to do physical yoga, we suggest picking one or more techniques from our Meditation DVD. When you feel something coming on and have the energy to do a practice, it's still important to take it somewhat easy. At this time our body's immune system is gathering resources to go up against the barbarians at the gates and we recommend a gentle practice to shore up our defenses. We recommend the first part of our Am/Pm Yoga DVD (Morning Wake Up Series with continuous Breath of Fire). We also suggest the Heart Chakra exercises on our A Journey through the Chakras DVD and the Immune Booster segment on our Yoga House Call DVD. These will spark your immune system. Feel better fast!
Beginners Mind
Hello, I'm not even familiar with yoga, and from what I've read on Amazon, you could help me a lot in this with your videos, so I would like to know which one should I buy or which ones, so I can start with yoga. Thanks
Thanks for writing. Kundalini Yoga is a technology will help keep you healthy, energized, focused, fearless, creative, capable, and calm. Not to mention happy! It does this by bottom lining what needs to happen for these things to occur. This includes a balanced glandular system, strong nervous system, energy to burn, a mind brought under conscious control, and Spirit as a constant. These may seem like vague concepts but they will quickly become living principles through the practice of Kundalini Yoga. We recommend starting with Kundalini Yoga for Beginners & Beyond, Fat Free Yoga, and Yoga for Beginners & Beyond: Stretch, Strengthen, Be Stress Free. Please keep us posted! We wish you joy, health, and abundant blessings!
Lyme Disease Energy, and Calming
Central Nervous System
Hi - Can you recommend any DVDs that are good for energy / calming the central nervous system? I'm in England and recently relapsed with Lyme disease but have found my new DVD (stretch)by yourselves invaluable - although I can't do it every day, I love it. Do you have any others that would be useful?. UK Amazon has quite a few but I'm a bit lost with the choice. I'm sure I'll have them all eventually when I'm better. Thanks so very much & kind regards

Deep Meditation into
Thoughtlessness
The title for this one always makes us smile since we don't ever want to actually be thoughtless, as in inconsiderate or rude in real life! It brings to mind the story of a yogi who meditated in a mountain cave for years and years. One day he decided to go down into civilization to see if he'd made any progress in his relations with other people. On his first day back he was walking through a bazaar and someone bumped into him. He said, somewhat rudely, "Hey watch where you're going." He knew in an instant that he had much more work to do. Of course Yogi Bhajan meant thoughtless in its very best sense! As in harnessing the power of a quiet mind. A still mind is non-reactive. Stilling our thoughts is the most rejuvenative mental nap we'll ever take. A thoughtless state is also the space where most of our best creative work happens!
Have your hands in your lap. Focus your gaze at the Third Eye and mentally repeat Wah Hay Gu Ru. Hear these four sounds reverberating above the top of your head. The crux of this Meditation is to become the sounds and let your thoughts be still. Continue for 11 - 31 min.
To end: Inhale deeply as you raise your arms up. Hold the breath and stretch. Relax the breath and shake your arms and hands. After practicing this Meditation, take your time easing back into normal activity, especially driving!
Comments: When we still our thoughts we begin to sense the deep silence of Self. A quiet mind is no small attainment. Many intrepid meditators spend decades attempting to bring their minds under conscious control. This technique can help you get there very quickly, but you have to be courageous. When our thoughts subside part of us feels threatened. It's because our minds have been talking to us for as long as we can remember, to the extent that we just assumed that we are our mind. Cultivate a predilection for deep peace and the Infinite integer: One. Metaphorically speaking, leave your cramped apartment where the TV is always blaring and walk outside (inside) into the light and air of the Eternal! When our mind becomes still, new energy and worlds of wonder are revealed to us. Mind your mind. Find your center and there remain. Listen to the calm refrain: Wah Hay Gu Ru. And may God find you!
