Thanks for adding your amps to the Tulsa energy grid! We are excited to be coming to you April 26/27! News of the Universe:
Mercury in retrograde is over (whew!) but now it's Saturn's turn to swim backwards through Scorpio. Saturn (Father Time) let's us know that everything has an expiration date so we shouldn't define ourselves by what we have but by what we are. Overall, lessons learned through hard times lead us to Spirit, which no matter what is going on, is the ultimate compensation and consolation. If things don't work out, or fall apart, get even more determined! Spirit is unbounded, irrepressible, and infinitely creative. To balance the effects of finicky Saturn, lucky Jupiter exalted in Cancer goes direct on Thursday March 6th. Expect opportunities and bountiful blessings but only if you've worked for it. That's why the Universe turns Saturn backwards and Jupiter direct: to show us how we've been doing.Who will win this tug of war: indulgence and inertia or discipline and devotion? And it's official, we are planning a Teacher Training at Indigo Yoga, in Pleasant Hill, CA, right outside of San Francisco. Module 1: May 23 - 25. This is a small center with a Big Heart. Owners Kelly and Eric Black are the bomb! They are amazingly talented yogis and kirtan musicians and singers and this training will rock! If you live anywhere on the West Coast and are ready to shift into a Higher Order of Being, join us. Don't let time/space interfere with this amazing opportunity. DOWNLOAD FLIER HERE! (we'll be teaching a special class here Wed. April 2nd, see below!) Kundalini got some love this month! Ana was interviewed by OM Magazine (March issue- Kundalini Calling). This is a UK publication but you can find it on specialty newstands, in Barnes & Nobles, as well as many Borders. You can also visit the OM Magazine website to download the magazine to your ipad. For those of you in the UK we have a special announcement: We will be presenting at the Manchester Yoga Show in May! We hope to see you!

Wheel Pose for Real People
A friend once pointed to a yoga pose in a magazine and said, "If only I could do that I feel like everything in my world would be alright." The yoga pose wasn't the most technically perfect pose, not even close, It was done by a performer, an artist, and it was imbued with creativity and soul. They had approached the yoga pose as they did everything in their life, as an opportunity to express their unique full-on essence. It made it the most stunning, awe inspiring pose we'd ever seen. It had that "keeping it real," quality. Not posing but doing. Going into the pose with all of their openness, creativity, vulnerability, emotion, will, fire, grit, love, freedom, daring and devotion. All chakras (spinning wheels) lit up in a row. What my friend was sensing was a full expression of Self. Something we all secretly long for. A way to express our personal style in everything we do. Each pose/exercise is our summation as well as a new beginning! Wheel Pose shows up in a few of our DVD's for a reason. for one, it blasts open all the chakras. It opens our Heart Centers big time. It elevates us and gives us new perspective. Makes the glands secrete to keep us feeling sexy and strong. What's not to like about Wheel Pose? Granted, it's a somewhat advanced yoga pose that calls for a blend of balance, strength, and flexibility. The fact is, despite your best doubts you may have all you need in your skill set to do Wheel Pose right now! All you need to bring is your creative self/personal style as well as the willingness to practice the pose often. Just do it, ya know?
Where There's a Wheel There's a way: The how to:
Feel as if your shoulders are too tight? Arms too weak? Back simply refuses to bend? Or...all of the above? Most often what's needed is not so much any of those things. Whats needed is more flexibility in our hip flexors and upper spine. If you can hold front push-up plank pose for 30 seconds you probably have the upper body strength you need for Wheel Pose. We also need a good push of leg strength to get us off the floor. Most of us have plenty enough of that! It's also helpful to have a released solar plexus so you can relax and breathe in the pose once you're up there.
First warm up!
A good time to practice Wheel Pose is at the end of your regular practice when you are fully warmed up. We recommend any of our DVDs. Kundalini Yoga for Beginner & Beyond and Yoga for Beginners & Beyond: Stretch, Strengthen & Be Stress Free are good choices. The Cobra sequence in our Green Energy DVD is like Wheel Pose with training wheels!
Additional exercises that help prep your body for full Wheel are:
We recommend three sets of each of these taking a few Long Deep Breaths in the Pose, or Breath of Fire if so inspired!
Bridge Pose: Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat. Press into your feet and the tops of your shoulders and rise up. Interlace your fingers beneath you. this is baby wheel and will help open up your front body and hip flexors.
Hip Flexor Stretch aka King Arthur Pose: with one shin up the wall have your opposite foot flat, knee bent. Start in the upright position and set yourself up well. Lift strongly through your breastbone and drop your tailbone. Lift your arms and stretch, creating more space between your ribs and pelvis. Bend as deeply into the stretch as you are able. This will give you a very deep hip flexor release.
Cobra Pose (not shown): lie on your stomach with your legs together or almost so. Hands palms down near your ribs. Press up into Cobra Pose, Keep your elbows close to your body and feel them drawing back towards your heels. Work on arching all parts of your spine evenly. Especially pay attention to bending through your upper spine as much as your lower spine. Feel that each vertebrae in your upper spine arcs forward and up. Send your chin forward and arc it up to finish your curve. This is an important exercise for cultivating upper body flexibility important for full Wheel Pose.
Dolphin Pose (not shown) Down Dog on your forearms with palms flat and shoulder width. (This is in our Kundalini Cardio Stretch & Strengthen DVD). This is a good upper body strengthener (rotate your upper arm bones outwards and create space between your shoulder blades) and warmer-up for Wheel Pose.
Free Wheelin'
Be very careful that the floor beneath you is not slippery. Don't lotion up those hands before practice! Also, remember It doesn't matter if we can't achieve wheel on our first, second, or hundredth attempt. It's the willingness, creativity and spirit we bring. Follow the instructions below. Sow your wheel with soul and watch your wheel glow!
1. Lie on your back with knees bent and feet close, but not too close to your buttocks. Place your hands palms down fingertips near your ears, pointing towards your feet. Inhale as you push into the floor with your hands and feet and place the top of your head on the floor.
(*This may be as far as you get today. That's okay -take a few breaths here and come down. Think about really using your leg strength even more next time round. You can rock some more weight into your arms once you are up there.)
And if you can, exhale and on your next inhale press all the way up. Take a few deep breaths. Move around rocking your weight back and forth from feet to hands. Press your breast bone between the plane of your upper arms. Try to feel an even arc along the length of your spine. Don't let any one part of your spine do more work than the rest. Inhale, stretch, and as you relax your breath slowly descend. Rest on your back with your feet flat and knees bent. Couldn't focus of any of those instructions at all your first time up? Don't worry it's all part of the process!
2. Ready? We're going up again. But this time we are going to bring our artistic element. Any emotions you are feeling about the pose: fearful, excited, inspired, frustrated...It's all good here, Nay, it's desired here! You are going to enlist goddess Kali and bring a little wildness to your wheel. While following the instructions above see if you can forget about trying to do it "right." and just feel your devil may care wild element. Just do it-to do it! Sense your front body expand so your chakras can flare and dare. Stretch any which way you can in the pose. Imagine you are a dancer and have just dropped into a backbend for the fun of it, bringing your personal style to this body art. Express yourself! Be an artist exploring what needs to happen for total freedom. Feel Free! Inhale, relax your breath as you carefully descend. Rest on your back with knees bent, feet flat.
3. Okay now we are warmed ourselves up enough to really honor our Wheel! Think of someone you love, someone you want to honor (this could even be your own Higher Self). Set yourself as you did before and press up, bringing your inspired spirit with you. This time you are the Universe. Breathe into your Heart Center and be a true expression of love. Feel your body as the ultimate expression of vulnerability and willingness to expand. Your body is your prayer. Do this with devotion. Inhale, relax your breath, come down and rest for a moment with feet flat and knees bent. Work up to 3 minutes (or more!) of this with Long Deep Breathing or Breath of Fire
To end your Wheel Pose session: Take a cat stretch (twisting side to side on your back). Rock and Roll on your spine and come right out of it. If you feel so inspired go right to the Meditation below!
Wheelie Well Done! :)

Hair Growth Dear Ana and Ravi, I am writing to you with the following question: I turned 50 last year and although I have no other signs of menopause and look much younger... I notice a considerable difference in my hair. I have always had lots of thick long hair. The changes must have probably been going on for longer cause when I noticed, it really went very quickly. I never paid that much attention to how much hair I was losing, cause I was always losing hair and always had lots. The hair now seems to be getting thinner and especially falling out much sooner e.g. my hair is getting shorter and the ends are getting very thin, not so much because they're breaking but because they fall out sooner. Most of the hair I lose is quite short! I have been using some lotion from the dermatologist for almost 4 months now with estrogen, melatonin and some kind of progesterone I think - it doesn't seem to make any difference....actually lately I feel I am losing more hair again....I am very hesitant to go on minodixyl....I am aware of the fact, that some kind of changes in our hair is to be expected, I do think what I am experiencing is a bit more than that...do you have any advice? Which exercises should I do? For someone who's always had very nice hair, its a terrible thought to be losing it....sorry that my message is so long! thank you so much!
Thanks for writing. In cases like this it's important to be a detective, but accept our assurance that there is a reason for this (it could be the cumulative result of a number of things) and if there is a reason then there is a solution!
* it could be a hormonal issue. We recommend that you practice Happy Hormones DVD and/or Fat Free Yoga at least 3 or 4x per week.
* we also recommend our Navel Power DVD 2x per week. Working the Navel seems to make a big difference for hair. * do you have silver fillings? Heavy metal toxicity could be an issue. We recommend our Yoga Cleanse (to help the liver detox) twice per week as well as the amino acid L-Cystine.
* we recommend a good hair vitamin formula which contains biotin
* time permitting, try Shoulder Stand with Breath of Fire 3 min. per day
* check your iron levels. We recommend Flora Vital, or Plant Force Liquid Iron herbal iron supplements.
* check your protein levels (liquid chlorophyll helps with protein assimilation)
* check your vitamin D levels (this vitamin helps to keep hormonal levels on an even keel).
Breaking Through That Wall
Hi, I previously practiced hatha yoga for about 14 years and I wanted to try KY so I purchased several dvd's from your collection about 8 years ago. At first I felt great, but then I started to feel depressed and very exhausted and this is the fifth time that this has happened to me. I started to practice again two months ago and again I have the same reaction. And I love KY because it makes me so slim, in just a couple of weeks I lost the extra pounds I gained during the holidays and at first I have so much energy but then a couple of weeks ago it started again, depression and exhaustion. Why is this happening? Do I continue my practice or just stop like I always do? Thank you! Thanks for writing and congratulations on beginning your Kundalini Yoga practice! The fatigue you experience when you do Kundalini Yoga is a sign that your body wants you to rest (after you are done with your practice, not instead of your practice) so that the energy generated by your practice can work to heal you on very deep levels. It means that deep healing is waiting to happen. The depression you experience actually means that you are beginning to process out old emotions so that you can experience the opposite of that in your life: joy. We encourage you to persevere through your practice because what you are experiencing is only a temporary situation but what the process leads to will be very beautiful. You have been hitting the same wall and it is time to break through! There is a saying: "We have to walk in the mud before we walk in the light." That means that we have to process our "stuff," for real health and happiness. Kundalini Yoga is the most graceful and powerful way we have ever found to further this process.
Testimonial
Dear Ana and Ravi, I would just like to say a big thank you to you both for making your amazing kundalini yoga DVDs. I started off buying your 'Ultimate Stretch' DVD via Amazon last year (May) and since then have found my health and well-being has improved vastly - I now own around 6 of your DVDs! I can not express enough just how much your positive affirmations throughout the yoga DVDs have helped me to realize my potential and accept happiness as my birth right. I always recommend your DVDs to anyone who asks me about yoga. Your DVD's have helped me so much. Since starting them I began on my road to healing from past experiences and began a healthy lifestyle - I have lost over 45 pounds! I live in England and have tried to find Kundalini yoga teachers in my area but nothing really compares to your great teaching style as I find I benefit on so many levels with your DVDs. Thank you so much, Thanks for your wonderful words! Congratulations on your amazing breakthroughs. We are going to include your e-mail in our next newsletter because it's important that everyone realizes that dramatic changes are right at our fingertips when we have access to such an awesome technology (Kundalini Yoga)! We wish you continued success on your yoga path!
Angels & Demons
Sat Nam Ravi and Ana, I have a question. I have a friend who is very spiritual. She meditates often, has psychic abilities, she also dabbles and learns from a lot of different things (angels, crystals, reiki, etc). She is very sensitive to energy and is very aware of signs, symbols, numbers, and synchronicities in her life. She has told me that through her practice she has encountered crazy entities and it freaks her out. She also connects with guides and angels. I have never had an experience like this. Are things like this real or is it the mind/subconscious? I have felt deep feelings of bliss, love, gratitude or, conversely, anger, anxiety, but have not connected it with anything other than my mind. I have looked it up online, but since I've not had experiences like this myself, I don't know what to believe. As a Kundalini Yoga Teacher, I am sure I will encounter other students who study these other areas. What are your opinions on this?
Thanks for your very important question. We always point out that there is a fine line between escapism and true Transcendence. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. Yogi Bhajan said, "God save me from the psychics. They pollute and dilute my faith." That sounds a little harsh out of context, but what he meant was that certain psychic phenomena and the myriad systems which purport to draw on received or channeled information can take us in circles for a lifetime and never lead to True Wisdom. Of course there are many gifted intuitives and it is possible to increase our intuitive prowess through a committed yoga/meditation practice. There are also many sensitive souls who have a right brain orientation (sometimes as a result of trauma and stress) who seem to be tuned in to other realities. The touchstone should always be whether their lives reflect mastery and whether they have the clarity to use their gifts for the greater good. Many people purport to be "special," in some way because they want attention or approval. Many people want to qualify themselves as evolved beings in an attempt to do an end run around the sticky issues of their lives. After her initial calling, Mother Teresa never had a Spiritual experience in her life, but her life was a total expression of Spirit. The penultimate experience of Spirit (Kundalini) is meant to be an embodied experience. What we all need is to be more present, more in focus, more sensitive to each other. There's work to be done here and that's why all of you reading this are here. May our efforts here release and redeem any disembodied beings in our presence. May our efforts make the angels clap, weep, and cheer.

Meditation for Powerful Prosperity
Part 1:
Sit with a straight spine. Lock your index fingers at your Heart Center (sternum) with your forearms parallel to the ground. Don't let your hands sink below your sternum.
(Variation: you may also hold this mudra at the level of your Third Eye.)
Yogi Bhajan: "If you hold the posture at the Heart center, you will be an achiever. If you hold it at the Third Eye, you will have the strongest projection possible.".
Focus your gaze at the tip of your nose. Your eyelids are 1/10th open. Inhale deeply through a rounded mouth as if you are smoothly slurping spaghetti. Exhale through your nose.
Breathe in prosperity. Gather prana (energy). Exhale your slef limiting concepts.
Mantra: Listen deeply to the mantra (or say it to yourself) while you keep the breath pattern going. "This sound of the breath and the mantra guarantees prosperity."
Har Har Har Har Gobinday
Har Har Har Har Mukunday
Har Har Har Har Udaaray
Har Har Har Har Apaaray
Har Har Har Har Hareeung
Har Har Har Har Kareeung
Har Har Har Har Nirnaamay
Har Har Har Har Akaamay
If you are doing this meditation for 31 minutes, continue Part I for 24 minutes.
If you are doing this meditation for 62 minutes, continue Part I for 55 minutes.
- After approximately 11 minutes, the patterns in your head will start to change. Your body will start to relax and with those tensions gone, you will start finding new horizons.
- About 15 minutes into the meditation, you shall enter the zone of body repulses. That means certain things which have been blocking you will start to tremble.
- After approximately 22 minutes, you will start to face your mental blocks, which need your perfect attention. Keep the breath strong and full as the fight starts between you and your mind
Part 2
Keeping your index fingers interlaced, raise this mudra overhead with your arms rounded.
Keep your eyes focused at the tip of your nose. Continue the same breath pattern and keep listening to the mantra.
Do Part 2 for five minutes, whether you are doing this meditation for 31 or 62 minutes.
This posture will establish brain strength. It will strengthen the grey matter. It creates a halo around your forehead (arcline) which is a magnet for luck and blessings.
Comments: Conscious breathing is legal tender in all principalities of being. It immediately translates into healing, abundance, opportunities, and inspiration. The word mudra translates as seal. The index finger relates to Jupiter. Expansion and luck. As yogis we are the Universe and through our practice we are ontological phenomenologists, the co-creators of circumstance. If determining our own outcome were as simple as doing a Meditation, why isn't everyone doing this? Our prayer is that all of our lives may be proof of concept so that everyone will soon be doing things like this, because they work and they are treasures beyond measure.
