Hormonal balance is the issue of our times because so many things get in the way of Happy Hormones. (very Advanced students - may start shouting from the top of their lungs their preferred choice of mantra.) 4.) get laughed/looked/ridiculed at - but keep going. 5.) get self conscious about it. continue for 31 min 6.) after 31 min. don't give a crap about it anymore. 7.) to end: go home - change - and waddle along freely on these mean streets of life. Over time build up to 62 min. maximum time for this easy yet very powerful, secret kriya is 2 1/2 hours. Don't not overdo it! Comments: You may not know where to buy penguin costumes, but whoever searches shall find! Checkpoints for this kriya: Some people may experience headaches from listening to your chanting. Sit in cross legged position, arms crossed sternly. Focus determinedly on the Third eye while deeply squinting - eyebrows furled. Purse your lips and grind your teeth, gently part lips and do breath of fire through tight teeth. Feel the emotion being stuck, feel impatient - feel what it feels like to believe there are no possibilities. Do this for 5 minutes - work deeply with breath of fire. Now, uncross your arms, relax your breath. And totally reverse your thinking. Reach the arms high above the head - as if reaching for inspiration, reaching for stars - spread the fingers wide, fill the palms with light, open your eyes sooo wide, open your mouth wide - stretch yourself, stretch your beliefs and boundaries, your sense of possibility. Now gently place index & middle fingers over eyes, relax your face, lengthen your spine. Begin long deep breathing. Feel the tendency to get stuck deep in your navel chakra, and as your long deep breathing moves and expands, feel the limited potential transform into wondrous, expansive movement. Noticing that even though we sometimes feel stuck, we cannot possibly be because everything is constantly moving, shifting, evolving. Connect deeply with the breath - surfing on the awareness of the blessed beauty that exists deep inside you - connect with your willingness to let go of your old patterns and fears. Continue this for 5 minutes - then rest your hands palms up on your knees, and allow Grace to transform your body, your moods, your mind and more!

11 Moons
In Kundalini Yoga manuals I keep reading about the 11th day of the moon cycle. What exactly does that represent?
Thanks for writing. The new moon, which is the day when there is no moon seen in the sky, is the first day of the moon cycle (of 28 days) from new to full. On the 11th day of the moon cycle we are in balance between the extremes of the Full and New Moons.This day is considered by the yogis to be a day when there is a special pressure on the glandular system so the benefits of a spiritual practice are amplified. Its a good day to eat lightly and meditate deeply! The 4th day of the moon cycle as well as the full moon are also considered powerful days for meditation.
Binaural Beats
Hi Guys, I was wondering if you had any thoughts on binaural beats? I highly value your opinion!
Binaural beats are a phenomena which occurs when two tones of nearly similar frequencies are played, one in each ear with stereo headphones or speakers. The brain integrates the two signals and produces a sensation of a third sound called the binaural beat. Binaural beats can be good therapy for stress related disorders and even emotional issues. There are many techniques in Kundalini Yoga that do the same thing but are an order of magnitude more sophisticated in terms of brain entrainment and attunement.
There is a woman who lives in our building, a family "friend," but I feel that she is more like a witch.
She goes out of her way to tell me that yoga is satanic and if I continue to do yoga a lot of misfortune will befall my family (Is she threatening me or sending me curses? Creepy). At first I was shocked and surprised, then hurt and scared. How do you handle a person like that? Not speak to them? Pay them no attention? Be kind? Be angry? Play crazy? How do you deal with people like that? A little insight would be great.
Your neighbor seems to be coming from a place of fear and misinformation. The best approach is compassion. Whatever you do, don't "bite the bait." Let your kindness and positivity, even in the face of negativity, become proof of what yoga can do. Then your neighbor will have good associations with yoga, and somewhere down the line her consciousness will be raised. As a person on the Path, everyone is your student. The highest strategy is to try to be non-reactive, and to see the soul in everyone, even if their actions seem far removed from their souls. We have decided that the following is the highest Spiritual Teaching: Whenever anyone projects negativity, in word or deed, imagine that they have a really bad toothache. That makes their actions understandable and we can cultivate empathy and compassion. Many people have a toothache of the soul. They deserve even more of our compassion.
Greetings Ana and Ravi, I appreciate your work and enjoy your yoga workouts immensely! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and gifts. I am 51 and am entering peri menopause. I know Yogi Bhajan said that a woman in this stage of life should do kundalini yoga vigorously enough so that you break a sweat each day. What workout or series of workouts to recommend for this? Also, I am noticing that this time is coming with a sense of newness. Like I'm on the cusp of a new and mystical change. What can I do to help these feelings to blossom and grow? Lastly, like most women going through this time, I worry about gaining weight. What would you recommend as far as diet and exercise to help in these areas. Thanks for your insights!
Its true that you are headed towards an exciting time. At this time we can use all the knowledge and wisdom we have gained thus far to refine our lifestyle, diet, and practice to really make our most powerful and profound gains yet! Peri-menopause is an opportunity. Its an open door to the depth and dimension of self. Until our mid thirties our lives are about going out, but after that it should be about going in. This inner work is our true vocation and the most important work of our lives. The gifts we receive from this inward journey are more beautiful than anything that came before! Its true that there is a mystical change happening, your pituitary and pineal glands are secreting in new ways, opening doors to a higher order of being. To enhance the opening of that mystical door, we recommend triple kriya: Sat Kriya, Kirtan Kriya, and So Darhsan Chakra Kriya. It would be good to do Sat Kriya 11 min., and the other two 22 - 31 min. each. Kirtan Kriya is the Sa-Ta-Na-Ma Meditation which is taught on Yoga Quick Fixes. So Darshan Chakra Kriya is taught on that as well. To break a sweat we suggest our Kundalini Yoga Flow Bootcamp, Kundalini Yoga Cardio, Warrior Workout, Kundalini Yoga for Energy & Super Radiance, and Body Electric. Do the exercises vigorously and you will not only sweat, but you will keep your hormone happy by doing so as well. We also suggest refining your diet at this time. Add more live foods such as salads and or raw shakes. We suggest weighing yourself every day so that you can monitor the ways in which you need to modify your diet to maintain a healthy weight as you make this transition.

 Meditation for Transformation
We are heading towards the Winter Solstice when sun energy is at its lowest ebb. Energetically we need to elevate ourselves to stay positive. The Winter Solstice also represents an opportunity to do some deep clearing to truly transform. This Meditation is a soul celebration to keep us light and bright! Place both of your hands in fists at your diaphragm. The middle knuckles of your middles fingers contact each other. Pressure on this central knuckle immediately gives self-confidence Extend your Jupiter (index) fingers directly away from your body and have them meet, fingerprint to fingerprint forming a teepee. Your thumbs are meeting thumb print to thumb print, pointing straight back. The points of contact between your hands are the middle knuckles, index fingers, and thumbs. Your thumbs are stretched back in contact with your upper diaphragm. Inhale deeply and chant Wahay Guru up to 40 times on one breath. When you run out of breath, inhale and start again. You can chant Wahay Guru 16 or 24 times as you build up to 40 repetitions, which is the ideal.Wahay Guru is chanted in three separate parts: Wah-Hay-Guru This was taught by Yogi Bhajan on March 8th 1976. This is what he said about this Meditation: "Wahay Guru should be chanted in three parts. Wha means infinite. Hay means Thou. Guru is the Self. When chanted in this manner, Wahay Guru draws you very near to God. So, there are three distinct parts to this meditation: Wah, Hay and Guru. When we see the dark clouds coming over the mountain, we seek shelter because we know there is an inherent danger in those clouds. We may get soaking wet. We may get struck by lightning. This meditation clears the darkness from the clouds in our hearts and helps us to avoid that inherent danger. It adjusts our perception of our projection and prevents weird actions resulting from a poor self image. In this time of transition the world insanity may become so great that people are going to go berserk without rhyme or reason. Many nervous systems will totally fail. If you cannot help them in any other way, have them do this meditation even if you have to tape their hands together. In fact, if you have mastered this Meditation, all you need do is sit with them and hold this mudra over their heads. They will receive all the benefits. To master this kriya, it must be practiced 120 days. That is the shortest possible time. It may take as long as 40 years. It depends on how vigorously and sincerely you practice it. However, you will almost always begin to notice some effects in about 120 days. The effects are: 1) When you speak, the power of listening and understanding is automatically given to the person you are speaking to; 2) Whatever you say, you shall remember, and 3) Your sayings shall not be forgotten among humans. Sometimes when you begin practice, you will feel a pressure around the lungs and the thyroid gland. This is a very temporary effect. Later you will feel very young, very energetic and very levitated. The action of the tongue as it flicks the upper mouth causes the central nerve or its tip to be stimulated. This causes the hypothalamus to secrete and drip, the pineal to radiate, and the pituitary to secrete. The energy at your navel point will run down to the base of your spine, then back all the way up, back and forth. You will get a feeling of vast horizons. They call it enlightenment." |
