Say What You Wanna Say!

What do all forms of expression, inspired eloquence, and genius inventions have in common? They are all gifts of the Throat Chakra. The Throat Chakra, the energetic counterpart of the thyroid gland, is also the reception area for strong emotions. We get a lump in our throats when those emotions are kept bottled up. Be careful though, some emotions are meant to be expressed, and some are meant to be transformed. We can also express our souls, our uniqueness, and exceed our own specs for beauty, grace, and positive potential, when this energy vortex is activated.

Do you have neck and throat issues such as hoarseness, chronic coughs or a sore throat? This might mean that you are blocking your gift of positive manifestation. Here are some Kundalini Yoga and Life exercises to become the inspired architect of your own life and a Master Manifester!

1. Say Exactly Want You Mean.
Directness is refreshing. Don't mince words, but always remember that context is everything. This is the great lesson of Throat Chakra expression. Oscar Wilde said, "If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you." If being direct involves implied or overt criticism, try to express it in the positive. Say that someone you know throws themselves into their workouts but has terrible posture habits. You could say something like, 'You have such great energy. and dedication. If you worked just a little more on these form pointers you could probably win an Olympic medal! '

2. Sing Out. Birds chirp and people sing. Singing is an unalienable human right. Not only is singing fun, but it opens your Throat Chakra right up.

3. Eat and Stress Less and Express More. Most of us eat way more than we need, to sustain ourselves. The surplus is often emotional compensation. The answer: soul food. Also, feeding the world with our life and art.

4. Happy Hips Luscious Lips. Well the title's a stretch, but it's true that when we have lower chakra congestion, we can't give birth to our songs. Try Yoga Bliss Hips to free up energy for creativity and abundance.

5. Rhapsody in Blue. Sky blue is the color of the Throat Chakra. Actually it's clear blue, because the blue of sky is not a filter or overlay, it's a frequency of light. Meditate on the blue of the sky. Feel light and pure (the Sanskrit name for the Throat Chakra is Vishudda, which means pure). Sometimes the earth dreams and it rains silver fishes. Extend your imaginings and let a rain of blessings cascade.

 6. Saphhires are a Girl's Best Friend. Wear a necklace, or ring, with one or all of these Throat Chakra gems: sapphire, lapis lazuli, blue topaz, aquamarine, turquoise, chrysocolla, or sodalite. Yogis have used jewels for thousands of years to amplify specific energies.

7. Can You Hear Me Now? Say it loud and say it proud. You probably know people who are low talkers. Throat Chakra people are loud talkers. Even when they're one on one, it's as if they're speaking to an audience. Practice letting your voice be heard above the crowd. If you are giving a presentation, speak to the people in the back row.

8. Forgive Yourself. Guilt is the Throat Chakra's antagonist. Many people feel that they don't deserve to be heard. Next time you have a good idea, be the mouse that roared.

9. Practice Sitali Pranayam. Inhale through a curled, extended tongue, and exhale through your nose (keeping your tongue extended). This is not a passive breath.  As you inhale, breath through the bottom of your lungs. This breath will also help your liver detox. If you would like to become a Master Manifester, do this breath for 22 min. per day.

10. Shoulder Stand with Breath of Fire. Shoulder Stand is one of the most potent Throat Chakra exercises. As you do Breath of Fire in Shoulder Stand mentally repeat the mantra Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Wahay Guru. Start with 1 min. and work up to 3 min., or more. You can also use this mantra mentally throughout your Kundalini Yoga practice. It can also be chanted, 4x per breath, as a Throat Chakra Meditation (there's a powerful Throat Chakra Meditation which uses this mantra (and other Throat Chakra exercises) our our Journey thru the Chakras.

Should Be Number 1: Be Truthful, Don't Diss People, and Listen Well

"Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people." --Eleanor Roosevelt

This is a life exercise for life. If you can't be truthful, don't say anything. It's so powerful to be truthful. When we make a habit of being truthful, the Universe begins to recognize our words as true, and whatever we say happens! So, be very discerning re: what you say, and how you say it. Also, another extremely important Life Exercise: Don't say anything negative about someone (or yourself), unless it's to protect someone.  Also, inspired listening is the cornerstone of expression. Listen to the shy genius inside of you. Listen between the lines so that you can hear what's really being said, not what you assume is being said, or wish was being said. Listen to the voice of the Universe and amplify those primal utterances!

Radiance Salutation

Hello Ana and Ravi! I love your dvds! I know you are very busy but I felt the need to ask you a question. I was wondering what the purpose of the radiance salutation on your dvd for energy and super radiance {is}. Someone mentioned that it was a prayer (I forget to who) and being christian that made me uncomfort- able. Is the radiance salutation for the thyroid?  If you could answer my question, I would truly appreciate it! Thank you for your time!

Thanks for writing and for your great question. Bowing is part of many Spiritual traditions. Re; the Salutation exercise on our Kundalini Yoga for Energy & Super Radiance DVD. The Radiance Salutation exercise works on many levels. Physically, it works the inner rotator muscles of the thighs. Lots of sitting (at desks and in cars) tends to make the bones of the hips spread and the hips widen overall. The bowing exercise does the opposite. It works the muscles of the hips to draw everything together for youthful hips. It does stimulate the thyroid gland, as well as the Heart Center, gall bladder meridian, and pineal gland. On a deeper level we are honoring whatever we hold to be most sacred. We are offering up our ego, or fixed self as an offering to our greatness. When the pineal gland is stimulated we get a sense of vast horizons and learn not to "sweat the small stuff." Please be assured that yoga is not in conflict with any religious tradition, rather it is meant to enhance it. If you feel that certain aspects of yoga seem to be in conflict with your religious beliefs, then we recommend relating to your yoga practice in a way which makes sense to you. For instance, you can use the mantra Lord Jesus instead of Sat Nam (they both mean the same thing). People often confuse religion and Spirituality. Spirituality is our own personal deepening of experience. It's letting our lives be informed by Spirit. That includes our religion, relationships, and vocation (and vacation!). It is important for us as Teachers to be very respectful re: people's belief systems, etc., but it is also part of our job to teach people not to compartmentalize when All is One, so that we can all come together as a humanity and celebrate Spirit.  We wish you joy, health, and abundant blessings!

Unemployment

Do you have any advice for those of us who  have been unemployed for a long time? Looking for a job has been very stressful. Most people don't even respond to the resumes sent. Anyway, If you have any advice I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Thanks for writing. We are sorry to hear of your life challenge, and we know that it must be a stressful time for you. Since everything contains its opposite, this current situation could turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of self-reliance, so this would be a great time to invoke your entrepreneurial spirit, to see if you can create opportunities for yourself. What are you really good at? What do you love to do? How can you use those gifts to generate income? Your "Dream job," is attainable if your create it for yourself!  It may sound somewhat New Agey, but our natural state in relation to the Universe is one of abundance. We are co-creators in partnership with the Universe, and since the Universe is Infinite, so are we. How does that translate into down to earth advice?

We recommend that when sending out resumes, make it a personal. Make sure that you know about the company you are writing to and let them know how you can help them. See if you can make personal contact. When we were hiring our current editor, the hundreds of rote resumes just became a blur. We picked the ones which stood out and made us want to get to know the person.

Another thing to consider is that with regard to career, some people seek security, and some people seek fulfillment. There are pros and cons for both. Sometimes when things aren't working out it's because the deeper part of us wants something else. Are you an accountant with the soul of an artist? It's important to be honest with ourselves about those things.

When we are in panic mode, we wind up vibrating more for what we are worried about, rather than optimum outcomes. So we suggest a strong Kundalini Yoga practice to help you maintain a calm overview. We also suggest the Meditation on our Navel Power DVD which uses the mantra: Har (4x) Whay Guru, Sat-a-Nam, Har, Haree. That Meditation is specifically to work through money blocks. If you do it pre-dawn and/or before bed, it will be especially potent. Remember though, that these techniques open doors, but we still have to walk through them. If you do that Meditation twice a day for 40 days, bountiful blessings will flow! Sometimes it takes a while for the ocean liner of circumstance to turn around, but the sacred sounds we use in Kundalini Yoga definitely cause the cause, and will affect the effect! You can take that to the bank!

In addition to the Meditation on Navel Power, we highly suggest this month's Meditation (see below). When our backs are up against the wall, or when we're at the end of our tethers emotionally, financially, or any other way, the Adi Shakti mantra (done 108x with pure devotion) will come through for you. It will invoke the compassion of the Divine Mother so that you will be looked after. Creation will serve us if we stay in the flow.

Meditation of the Month - Adi Shakti Beaming

ana55 Part 1: Sit in Easy Pose with a straight spine. Have the heels of your hands meeting at collarbone level. The "V" of your hands frames your face like the petals of a flower. Close your eyes and imagine a spiral of soft light beaming from your face to Infinity. You are simultaneously the Universe beaming blessings into the field of action and form, and you are you, projecting Love to the Universe.Time open.

Part 2: Place one hand on your sternum, and the other over it and chant this mantra in praise of the Divine Mother: Adi Shakti (3x) Namo Namo, Saraba Shakti (3x) Namo Namo, Pritham Bhagvati (3x) Namo Namo, Kundalini, Mata Shakti, Mata Shakti, Namo, Namo. Time open.

Part 1 is a powerful form of prayer. Out of pure potential we are projecting beauty, grace, and abundance. Our Identity becomes open-ended and the Universe becomes us.

Part 2 features a mantra which honors the Divine Mother, or Feminine Creative Principle. Adi Shakti means Primal Power. Saraba Shakti means All Power. Pritham Bhagvati means that which the Universe creates through. Mata Shakti means Divine Ana Sing Mother. Kundalini is Spirit Rising (energy in manifestation: a Feminine Force). Namo means I call on you.

Sometimes the stars are not aligned in our favor, to the extent that things not working out go from being dire, to almost laughable. Astrology is based on this concept: when we are born the position of the heavenly bodies creates an energetic imprint on our "magnetic psyches." This creates definite trends in our life scripts when certain influences are afoot. It is said that when we chant the Adi Shakti mantra 108x we can reverse negative astrological trends. Superstition of the past? Or science of the future. You decide!

This mantra represents exactly what's needed now, because it may be often referred to as a man's world, but it's a woman's Universe! What needed now is life in us, rather than divisiveness. Unity in diversity, and of course Love Sweet Love. The Divine Mother represents compassion for all, mutual respect, and the human element (Heart Center). Whether her name is Mother Mary, Fatima, Kwan Yin, Devi, Mother Earth, Cybele, Terra Matter, Danu, Tara, or Mom, all beings find comfort and solace in the cool shadow of her wings.

It is said that the prayer of a mother for her children is among the most powerful forces in the Universe. The Divine Mother is praying for us and those prayers are magnified when we remember her.
