Sat Nam Dear Yogis Happy April! Yogi Bhajan advised all of us to 'bounce in life with joy because our strength lies in our smiles and songs,' and our main topic in this April news- letter is a reminder that this really is possble for each and every one of us because These Are The Days of Heaven! We will explain this thought further, but first, we are very excited to announce that this Friday our con- current 200/300 hr. Teacher Training begins in Memphis (info. below). Congratulations to owner, Olivia Lomax, for completing the build out of the beautiful Delta Groove Yoga Center on time! We're looking forward to seeing all of you soulful yogis, and also you honorary Memphis-ites who are coming from near and far to attend.
A huge Heart-full Thank You to all of you for your wonderful feedback on our new DVD, Green Energy of the Heart!!! You really brightened our March! It means so much to us to hear that you are enjoying this new DVD and feeling many lovely benefits from the workout.
So many of you have discovered that a great corollary benefit of these Heart Center kriya's is the bonus of better posture. Yep! They go hand in hand! As we strengthen our back muscles and engage the Navel we can open our shoulders and heart, and release the pain of the past from our solar plexus. This lets us live fearlessly with a heart wide open. Caution! You will get attention with your new radiant stature. But no worries! when the heart opens we have the confidence to go along with it! We appreciate your continued "Keeping Up" with us!
If you live anywhere near Syracuse, NY, come dip your toes in the healing waters of Module 6 of our Teacher Training: Methods of the Masters (see below). Come and make a weekend out of it, or just come for an afternoon!
We're also very excited about our first event in Fernie, BC (see below). We are teaching a weekend of workshops May 3 - 5 at Essential Yoga and will be starting a Teacher Training there August 21st. The mountain views are stunning and, of course, Kundalini Yoga is a great way to take in that fresh mountain air!
BOOK UPDATE: Stop the presses! We have added just one more chapter to our upcoming book. Since this last chapter involves Sex, Food, & Sleep, we think its going to be worth the extra wait! So now the text is complete, the design is 95% complete. We just need a few photographs and to have it proof read, and then it's ready for the printers! We're not sure how long these things will take, but the Kundalini Yoga way is to honor Spirit by doing your absolute best and by being a thorough as you can be.

Spring is a time for new beginnings, and what better time to re-aquaint yourself with your Kundalini Yoga practice! Also, never think that you have to be perfect to practice (or to take a Teacher Training). What our Trainings represent is a community coming together to inspire each other and to lend our energy to Spirit Rising. Keeping ourselves uplifted and in the flow of Spirit is a gift we give to ourselves everyday.
Sometimes we don't realize that inertia's kicked in. Time and space as well as emotions and the pull of the past, can conspire to keep us bogged down. Then by the Grace of the Infinite, our discipline delivers, and we are able to rise above the clouds again into the beautiful brightness of Self.

These are the Days
of Heaven
Throughout our 11 years together, we have lived in many different situations. from a cramped New York City apartment, to a cabin in the deep woods, and out of our suitcases in various hotel rooms. Our itinerant lifestyle has often felt challenging, hectic, and not always settled. What has always worked for us, is to stop the world for a moment, take a deep breath, and remind each other that "These are the Days of Heaven." As you look back on the various times in your life which may have felt challenging, also remember the true sweetness of it all. How often have you been catapulted into a bad mood which colored your day because a waiter didn't get your order right, or something you were expecting didn't arrive in the mail. If the small things can break our day, how about letting small but wonderful things make our day! Revel in Awareness. Let your molecules dance with Infinity!
Are we offering a form of compensation because only a select few can really have it all? Definitely not! But let's not forget that when many people finally have it all, they ask, 'Is that all?' Buddha figured it out 2500 years ago, and it's still true now: our minds are never satisfied. Unless we can train our minds, and put things in perspective, nothing is ever enough. Yoga is all about balance, and when we do the practices in Kundalini Yoga, our lives are brought to balance. If the things of the world take us away from Spirit, then our souls will orchestrate whatever it takes, so that we can be our own anchor and support.
The Kundalini Yoga way is about graceful existence, material and Spiritual blessings, the best of both worlds. The Universe doesn't want us to suffer and struggle, or to have our lives be all about just getting by. When we are living in the flow of Spirit, every thing in our lives is in full bloom. A life of Spirit is about using our gifts to make an impact.
The techniques in Kundalini Yoga have an objective effect. But what really makes them powerful is intention. For instance, if you are doing a Prosperity Meditation, it's not about having in the back of your mind, 'Money, money, money, more money...' It's about affirming that you already have the strength, creativity, and aptitude to create opportunities where you stand. The Kundalini Yoga way is not to be a beggar. When we do these amazing techniques, we are not asking for a handout. Rather, we are offering to use our gifts and creativity to help the Universe reveal its splendor to the world.
Let's remind ourselves that blessings abound. Think about the people in your life whom you appreciate so much. Be grateful for the health you have. Most of all be grateful for Awareness itself. Live in a way which inspires the Universe to be grateful for you. Reality is a work of art which we create as we go.
The Saints tell us that if something good happens it is by the Grace of the Infinite, and adversity's bitter pill is Divine Will. No one says we have to try to be happy all of the time. Too much sun makes a desert. But if we can get to the place where we find happiness in Being, then everything in our lives is a beautiful bonus. As Bob Marley said, "Sometimes the roads been rocky, but it sure feels good to me!"

Breaking Up is Hard to Do
Oh, how I love love love your DVDs!!! Will you please tell me what in Kundalini Yoga can help to ease heartache??? (Relationship with boyfriend of 3+ years is unravelling)... Thank you so much for everything...
We are sorry to hear of your life challenge. We recommend the SaTaNaMa Meditation which is taught on our Yoga Quick Fixes and Yoga House Call DVD's. We suggest an extended version: 5 min. out loud, 5 min. whisper, 10 min. in silence, 5 min whisper, 5 min. out loud. You are pressing your thumb tips against your index (Sa), middle (Ta), ring (Na), and little fingers (Ma). Feel the consonants (S,T,N,M) coming in through the top of your head, and the "ah" sound on a parallel plane out the brow, like the letter "L." As you are doing this Meditation, feel the feelings you've been going through. Sa Ta Na Ma means: existence, life, transformation, rebirth, and represents the rhythm of the Universe. This Meditation will give you some solace and an overview so that you can function in a clear and balanced way. It's like a Divine lullaby which will help to remind you that "All things come from God and all things go to God." According to yoga, when a woman is in a hurtful or intense relationship, those influences can stay in her energy field (aura) for up to a year and continue to affect her. The Sa-Ta-Na-Ma Meditation will help to 'wash that man right out of your aura,' quickly. It's also for emotional healing. In additional to Sa-Ta-Na-Ma, we also recommend a daily Kundalini Yoga practice. We want to assure you that you will smile and laugh again. Whatever happens, you're still you (beautiful, bright, creative, capable, calm), and that forever!

Hello, I am interested in purchasing some of your DVD's but need some help in choosing the right ones for my practice. I have been practicing yoga for about 17 years and have experimented with different forms. I have always loved Kundalini yoga. It has such a healing, energetic quality that I don't experience with any of the other styles. Any experience I have had with Kundalini, though, has been through DVD's and books as this form of yoga is not available where I live. I would love to have a solid, well-rounded practice, say, just as if I were coming to your classes daily for a week. You offer quite a selection and they all seem wonderful...I would like your recommendation for a weeks' worth of classes. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

Sweet Tooth
I have the worst sweet tooth. I can leave sugar for weeks at a time but eat a piece of fruit or small piece of candy and I'm toast! I love your newsletters and was thinking that I'll try the 40 day challenge but wanted to see if maybe there was one particular DVD you would suggest? I love them all and have all but maybe 2. :) Or maybe you have other suggestions to kick my cravings? I appreciate any and all help.
Thanks for writing. We recommend our Navel Power DVD. It will give you the willpower to turn the table on cravings and successfully implement positive new habits. We also suggest Kundalini Yoga for Energy & Super Radiance to boost your metabolism and give you an overview when cravings strike. A "sweet tooth," is based on a number of factors, Most important among these is brain chemistry. One of the biggest pieces of this puzzle is in keeping blood sugar levels stable. We suggest eating a few raw brazil nuts between meals, and of course eating at regular intervals. Sometimes when we are not getting enough protein, we crave sweets. That is very common for people who are transitioning to a vegan diet. It is very important to insure that one's digestive system is assimilating nutrients properly before embarking on a radical shift in one's diet. Liquid chlorophyll (or chlorella tablets) is a great supplement to help assimilate protein better. The supplements L-Glutamine and L-Carnitine can be very helpful against sugar cravings. Be sure you are getting enough enzymes (that's why some raw food in your daily diet is so good for you). Another factor may be candida. When there is candida overgrowth in the body, the cravings we experience are actually those organisms (which proliferate when we eat sweets) saying, "More, more, more.." Alcoholic beverages, all forms of excess sugar, processed and fermented foods, are all to be avoided if candida is an issue (and it is for most people). Ultimately a craving for sweets is a metaphor for a craving for the inner sweetness of Self. We suggest a consistent practice of the various Kundalini Yoga mantras. The yogis tell us that these Beautiful Names satisfy more deeply and enduringly than all the chocolate chip cookies in the world!
Stress Into Blessings!Good Morning. I need help with stress please - both mental and physical. I went for a massage yesterday and was told I was too tight and stressed. The lady could tell from the tightness I had in my neck, shoulders, and arms. I did not realize I was that tight and stressed. What can I do for both mental and physical stress? The answer is simple. Practice Kundalini Yoga and Meditation every day. Do you have any of our DVD's? We suggest our AM/PM Yoga. Do the morning set in the morning, and the PM set later on. Extend the time of the AM, and PM, Meditations over time. The irony around stress is that the more stressed we get, the more stress we incur, because people subconsciously defer to us less when we are down. It's a primal response. So, even though the causes for our stress might not be totally our fault, we still have to take personal responsibility for our own state of affairs. Kundalini Yoga to the rescue! Please also review the Meditation of the Month (below). It is the perfect anti-stress technique. It is easy to do and it works fast. Yogi Bhajan said that, "I can't get in you and breathe!" It's up to each of us to be conscious and to do what works. |
3 Minute Meditation for A Fresh Start
Sit in Easy Pose, maintaining a slight Neck Lock. Have your thumbs pressing the mounds at the base of your little fingers and make fists around your thumbs. Your hands are right in front of your breastbone with the heels of your hands meeting, and the first joint of the index fingers meeting, fingernail to fingernail. Your eyes are 1/10 open looking down and in towards the tip of your nose. Inhale long and deeply through your nose. Exhale smoothly through a rounded mouth. Inhale through a rounded mouth. Exhale through your nose. Continue this breath pattern for 3 min. Nose, mouth, mouth, nose. Start with 3 minutes and build up the time, over time, to 11 min. and ultimately to 22 min. Comments:
A mind without guidance is the Great Pretender. It leads us in circles offering false assurances. Then we get so mired in the mundane that we forget that it's possible to soar into the light and air of the Eternal, and to have that beauty and exalted view inform our lives. This Meditation will help you remember that Higher Consciousness is only a breath away. Honor yourself through discipline and devotion. Your True Self is patient, powerful, and pure. It knows where you've been and it knows where you are meant to be. Your True Self is the most beautiful thing there is. If you feel that you've lost your way, find a way, to sit down and practice this Meditation. Let your Spirit blossom in Spring. Have faith in the fact that three little minutes can create a whole new momentum towards blessings and happiness.
