Shawn Schreiner Love Like It is Your Last Moment on Earth

The late Tina Lillig taught me a lot about living into what she called her "new normal." Life brings so many things in our lives and our capacity to adapt and look through new lenses can have a huge impact in how we move forward.

As most of you know, my spouse had a serious stroke a few weeks ago. Her determination and spirit is making a huge impact in her recovery. We are leaning into what "new normal" means for us and that changes every day.

This has been a lesson and a reminder in how quickly our lives can change. I have spent a lot of time reflecting on how very important it is that we live our lives to the fullest.

So much of the energy around this planet, in the church, in our work places, in our families . . . is on criticism, getting our own way, our own agendas, having lots of material goods and so much more. Could you imagine what Grace and the world would look like if we spent most of our time on loving what God has created and making sure that every single person knows of the love of God and of those around them?

Love like it is your last moment on earth!!! What would your life look like if you did that? How would it change? How would you grow? What would it feel like?

Love like it is your last moment on earth! Let go of what needs to be freed from within!

-Shawn

P.S. Thank you all for the prayers for Vicki and for me. Vicki will be coming home from the hospital on Friday. The next step for her is what is called Day Rehab. She will go two to three days a week for up to six hours a day. Her healing process is going well. Those wanting to know how to help with meals and other tasks may go to the Caring Bridge site is at this link.

Parish Picnic
Sunday, June 7th

The Annual Grace Church Picnic will take place this Sunday, June 7th, immediately following the 10:30AM service (approx. 11:45AM). We will still have two services on that day (9 & 10:30AM), but encourage as many people as possible to attend the 10:30 service.

We need people to work the grills, bring side dishes, and help with set-up and clean-up.  There is a sign-up sheet at this link.  Please sign up to indicate how you will help with this all-parish endeavor.

Concerts@6:26 Series Begins This Week

Grace Episcopal Church will sponsor the Eighth Season of Concerts@6:26 throughout the summer.  Each Thursday, June 4 - August 20, we will sing Evensong beginning at 6:00 p.m., followed at precisely 6:26 p.m. with a thirty-minute recital to be offered in the Gothic-Revival splendor of Grace Episcopal Church.  There will be a freewill offering, half of which goes to our outreach programs. Click on the photo below for more information, including the full program.
