Stories. Story time. Sharing pieces of who we are with each other is a profound part of our daily lives. There is nothing like sitting around a campfire, dinner table, lunch room, etc. and getting to know one another better.
We are approaching Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter. For Christians, this is one of the most important times for sharing our biblical story. During this short week we hear the most important stories that are part of our salvation history. We walk the last few days of the life of Jesus with Jesus and his followers. We see how he dealt with the pressures of the time. We see the fear and all emotions that the disciples and the crowds had and were dealing with. We see how they fought, rejected, stood by and persecuted the Christ that you and I follow today.
Even before I became a priest, I was drawn to all of the services that are offered during this time because they not only helped me to understand Jesus and his friends better, they helped me to understand me better. The caused me to get a sense of all our stories. When you listen to these biblical texts you are drawn into how they relate to so much of what happens to the entire human family on a regular basis.
I invite you to come to as many of these services as you can. I know that it is asking a lot. Our lives our busy with work, family and so many other obligations. Having said that, I believe that walking the journey from Palm Sunday to Holy Week can profoundly change your life and can make the day to day of our lives a little more easy to maneuver through.
Next week you will hear more about each of the services. There are services for all ages.
Peace,
-Shawn

Proceeds benefit the pilgrimage fund
|
The Rite 13 (Youth) Group has been working together for nearly 2 years now. They meet regularly on Sunday afternoons discussing the connections between faith and life. They are looking forward to going on a pilgrimage together in the years ahead. Groups from Grace and St. Christopher's have gone on pilgrimages to Scotland, Turkey, San Francisco, Ireland, Mexico, and France in recent years. To raise funds for this future formative journey, they will be selling Easter baskets fully loaded with candy and Easter toys. Click here to order your basket(s) online. Order forms will also be available at church this Sunday. Large baskets will cost $25 and smaller baskets will be $15. Orders due on Friday, April 11th for delivery on Palm Sunday, April 13th. Questions? Contact Nick Currie.

News From the Property Committee
|
In early December the Property team began monthly meetings to determine which property issues needed to be addressed early in 2014. We are in the process of getting estimates for replacing the metal exterior doors on the west side of the parish hall, installing doors on the second floor of the parish hall, getting repairs to prevent leaks in the Rectory and the east side of the parish hall, and installing missing downspouts on the church and parish hall. The tile floor in the hallway will be replaced once the moisture issues are resolved. The dishwasher needs a new motor and that will be replaced while it is still available. We are contacting a structural engineer to determine what can be done to rectify the wall separation on the west side of the parish hall. New signs were designed and installed by the Parish Administrator. SAVE THE DATE: SATURDAY MAY 31st! Volunteers needed from 9-4 to participate in a Clean Up and Special Projects Day. We hope to do some annual cleaning in the sanctuary, painting in the parish hall, and cleaning out of the 3rd floor teen room. Lunch will be provided! -Grace Church Property Committee Leslie Atwood, Sharon Harmsworth, Lil Hohmann, Cliff Hunt, Mark Woodworth

Join us at coffee hour following the 9am service this week for some crafts and family fun! We'll have a small craft table set up in the parish hall so your child can enjoy some creative time alongside food and fellowship. If you have questions, or would like to lend a helping hand, please email Nick.

9PM Thursdays during Lent

No sound from the pulpit microphone. That was true for a couple of Sundays. This is a gentle reminder that our sound system is not to be turned off at all from the main box by the organ or up by the pulpit. We also ask that if you see anyone (except staff or ushers or emcees) fiddling with the system, you remind them.
Next week I will be having our sound technician check the quality of the sound from the pulpit microphone in comparison to the lectern.
Thanks so much!
-Shawn

A new ministry at Grace Church! We are fortunate, most Sundays, to have first-time worshipers with us here at Grace. Some then join us at Coffee Hour, but some do not. We would like to offer brief, guided tours of our worship space each Sunday after the 10:30 service as another form of hospitality. Would you like to join this group to give tours? Speak to Dennis Northway, Cliff Hunt, Sally Kidwell, Charles Wells, John Seaton or Joanne Schochat for further information.
