We ask for your special prayers for South Sudan and the people of our partner diocese and church, St. Luke's in Renk, in this time of increasingly widespread violence occurring in South Sudan.   

Jackie Kraus (our diocesan chair of the subcommittee on the Diocese of Renk) spoke to Bishop Joseph, and he reported deteriorating conditions, so much so that two people who were visiting Renk (one from Christ Church in Winnetka, who was supposed to stay there until May) were evacuated to Nairobi just a few hours ago. They will stay there for a week, waiting and watching how the crisis develops.

Bishop Joseph plans to make arrangements for his wife (Roda) and girls to leave soon for Nairobi as well. He will remain, as does Mother Alice and of course the other staff and parishioners of St. Luke's.
