Fall Back This Saturday Night
Daylight Savings Time ends at 2AM on Sunday, November 3
A reminder: set your clocks back one hour this Saturday, November 2 before going to bed.  If you forget and arrive an hour early, join us for the Lectionary Discussion Group (see below)!
Lectionary Discussion Group
Each Sunday at 9:35AM in the Parish Hall
Ever wonder what on earth is going on in the biblical texts we read on Sunday? Ever wanted to have a group of people with whom to experience these stories and letters more deeply? Then come to the Parish Hall each Sunday at 9:35AM. In between the two services, we'll be exploring the lectionary texts (the week's assigned Bible readings) together to learn more about their original context and their potential relevance for our lives today.

You'll always find the lectionary texts at this link.  Simply click on the date of the upcoming Sunday.  Note: Grace uses Track 1 for the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) and Psalm, when a choice is given.

NOTE:  Because we're celebrating All Saints' on November 3, those lessons are found at this direct link.

Questions?  Email Eric Biddy.
You Are Invited to Bring Mementos of Loved Ones to Church
They will be honored at the Requiem on November 3rd
In loving memory Help us to fill the church with the great cloud of witnesses by bringing pictures or mementos of loved ones who have gone before us.  They will be a focal point of the Requiem on November 3.

Feel free to bring these items this Sunday, November 3 (please mark them with your name).  If you are bringing them to church on Sunday morning, please place your items of remembrance on the altar at the left side Lady Chapel. If you are bringing them when you arrive for the Requiem, please place them on the table in the crossing.

Mozart Requiem & Evensong of Remembrance
Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 4:00PM
Candle

We all grieve and suffer loss in different ways, however, the Christian perspective is that death is a portal not a conclusion.  Join us on November 3 beginning at 4:00PM for an Evensong for the Feast of All Souls.  This is a service to mourn, pray and reflect.  Names of the faithful departed will be read during the prayers in the service.

As the conclusion of the service, the choir will sing the Mozart Requiem accompanied by members of the Handel Week Festival orchestra.  The soloists for the Requiem will be Nicci Krebasch, Susan Gosdick, Gerald Frantzen and David de Jong.

Kindly invite your friends to this moving service.

Fifty Years Later: The State of Racism in America
A Live Webcast and Luncheon at St. James Commons, Chicago on November 15

On November 15, 2013 the Episcopal Church will host and produce a forum centering on a critical topic for our times: Fifty Years Later: The State of Racism in America. Originating from St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral in Jackson, MS (Diocese of Mississippi), the 90-minute ecumenical forum will be live webcast beginning at 1PM Central.

The forum will be moderated by well-known journalist and PBS commentator Ray Suarez. Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori will keynote the event. Two panel discussions will focus on main themes: Racism in America today - why does it persist? And Racism in America's future - where is there hope for change?

The Anti-Racism Commission in the Diocese of Chicago will be hosting a viewing of the live webcast and luncheon at St. James Commons, 65 E. Huron St., Chicago, from 12:30 - 3:30PM.  All are welcome.
