From the Rector

From palms, to water, to stations of the cross, to an empty tomb, to an Easter egg Hunt, to food and more food, to a funeral and more, we have worshiped and played and mourned and gathered as a community. Holy Week and Easter and funerals tend to bring communities together and we have done that well.

Our services and receptions do not happen without the work and ministry of so many. I thank all of you for bringing all of this together for Grace and those who have entered Grace.

In a few weeks the Worship Team will come together to reflect on all that we have experienced over the last few weeks.  I hope you will take some time to share with me, and with them, how Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, the Great Easter Vigil and Easter impacted your lives.

I look forward to worshiping and gathering with you!

Uncorking Theology to Meet April 14th

This month Uncorking Theology will be held Sunday, April 14th at 5:30 PM.  Sarah and Cliff Hunt will host a Soup Supper at their home.

We have decided to try a new format and new day of the week with the idea it may be more convenient for everyone's schedule and a more enjoyable way to meet.  The topic for discussion is:  If we are called to love our enemies, how do we stand up to evil?

Sarah will provide soup for all.  Other menu items needed are bread, salad, dessert, beverages.  Please RSVP sarah.j.hunt@comcast.net to let her know that you will be attending and if you would be able to bring something.  We hope you can come -- last minute reservations are OK.

Al Corzine Joins Pastoral Care Team

Parishioner Al Corzine is participating in the Bishop Anderson House Lay Chaplaincy Program. He will join many others with the ministries of home communion, hospital visits and more.  Please pray for him.  Let either Shawn or Al know if you would like a visit.

Silent Auction Basket for Bishop Anderson House's Spring Benefit

Grace will be contributing a basket for the silent auction at Bishop Anderson House's benefit.  The theme of our basket is "Good to the Last Drop".

Thanks so much to Al Corzine, David deJong, Jim Redden, Lil Hohmann, Sarah Hunt, LouAnn Tobiasiewicz, Jim & Kary Deuel, Marion & Jon Baumgarten, Norb Teclaw and Cherryl Holt for donations to purchase a Keurig Coffee Maker. What we now need to make the basket complete are: Keurig Dark Roast, Breakfast Blend, DeCaf coffee K-cups; Hot chocolate K-cups and an assortment of K-cup teas. If you can donate any of the above items, please see Mary Hope Griffin at Coffee Hour after the 10:30 service on Sunday April 7 or 14. Thanks for helping to make the Grace Silent Auction Basket the best of the Show.
Feinstein Challenge to Benefit Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry

For the last several years the Feinstein Foundation has been offering a proportional matching grant to food pantries around the country. Both money and items donated are counted and each pantry receives a grant in proportion to the amount they have collected. As Federal funding drops, while the economy stays stressful, the needs at the Oak Park Food Pantry have greatly increased.

If you would like to donate to the Oak Park River Forest Food pantry through Grace Church, please bring non-perishable food items to Grace Church, and we will get them to the pantry.  The Feinstein Challenge runs until the end of April. Thanks so much.
