From the Rector

Palms! Water! Towels! Crosses! Stories! Candles! More Water! Empty Tomb! The symbols are plentiful. They tell the story. Our Story. Jesus' Story.  We gather to see them, to smell them and to hear about them. To be drawn into them brings us even closer to the reality of how the Christian story intersects with the lives of those of us who call ourselves Christians and those who wonder about being Christian.  That is the beauty of Holy Week.

Come and experience the washing of your lives, the power of love, the places of death and the joy of resurrection.

Easter Vigil Reception

Hello everyone! Don't forget about our wonderful reception following the Great Vigil of Easter on Saturday, March 30.

We are always in need of finger foods. This could be anything from tea sandwiches to cheese and crackers. Also, we need volunteers to help in the kitchen. If you could give us a small amount of your time, either before or after the service for set-up and/or clean-up, it would be very much appreciated.

Questions? Contact Carole Barber, 708-386-1055; Laura Day 708-453-7162; or Jane Shirley, 773-378-0674.

A Benedictine Experience

All are welcome to join us for A Benedictine Experience on Tuesday, April 2, at 7PM.  We'll begin in the Parish Hall with a soup supper and end with Evening Prayer in the church. Questions? Contact Suzanne Haraburd.

Silent Auction Basket for Bishop Anderson House's Spring Benefit

Grace will be contributing a basket for the silent auction at Bishop Anderson House's benefit.  The theme of our basket is "Good to the Last Drop". Help us put together a basket of coffee and tea goodies. Mary Hope Griffin is organizing the basket and will have sign ups for various items and monetary donations. Please see her at Coffee Hour on Sundays March 24, April 7 and 14.
Feinstein Challenge to Benefit Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry

For the last several years the Feinstein Foundation has been offering a proportional matching grant to food pantries around the country. Both money and items donated are counted and each pantry receives a grant in proportion to the amount they have collected. As Federal funding drops, while the economy stays stressful, the needs at the Oak Park Food Pantry have greatly increased.

If you would like to donate to the Oak Park River Forest Food pantry through Grace Church, please bring non-perishable food items to Grace Church, and we will get them to the pantry.  The Feinstein Challenge runs until the end of April. Thanks so much.
