The book study group organizes itself around authors who focus on living more fully from one's soul in the second half of life. The life of Christ is often used by such authors as a paradigm for this.
Our Study Group will next meet on March 13, 2013 at 7PM. We will be discussing chapters 4 & 5 of
Finding Meaning in the Second Half of Life. We'll meet at the home of Dennis Zavac & Bets Howland.

Listening Once Again:
Holy Week as Spiritual Wisdom
with Jack Shea
March 23rd 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon
Holy Week, the culmination of Lent, offers us another chance to ponder the stories of the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus. But we have heard them many times. Despite our best efforts, they suffer from familiarity. However, if we could learn to hear them as stories of spiritual wisdom, they will reveal our true spiritual condition and inspire and transform our lives. We will revisit these familiar stories in an unfamiliar way in preparation to participate in Holy Week. Learn more, and purchase tickets here.

Chewing on the Word. Digesting the Responses: Breakfast With the Rector
Wednesday Mornings during Lent 8:00 a.m.
We'll meet at the church and head to a local restaurant for some time to explore hot topics where the church meets the world and/or gather to get to one another. Have questions about faith, your life that you always wanted to discuss with someone? Do you enjoy a good meal with new and old friends? Ever want to stump the Rector with a question? If so, join Shawn and others every Wednesday morning during Lent at 8 am for breakfast. Like the idea of gathering with folks in such a way but find yourself saying no way to 8 am? Contact Shawn to discuss a lunch gathering. Jesus loved to dine with friends. As disciples of Jesus, let's do the same.

Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Lent Message 2013: "Learn more, give alms, share what you have."
Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori presents a challenge in her Lent Message 2013 to pray, fast, study and give alms. "As you engage this Lent, I would encourage you to pray, to fast, to act in solidarity with those who go without," she offers. "Learn more, give alms, share what you have." The Presiding Bishop's video message, filmed at a park in New York City, is available at this link.

Lent is a border-walking time: Death and Life, Glory and Shame, Sin and Grace, Temptation and Repentance, all littering the Lenten landscape, all halting us in our liturgical tracks for a 40-day blink of the inner eye.
