Holiday Lunch/Dinner

On Wednesday, Dec. 5, join the Student Council in MA1100N/S to celebrate “A Waltzing Holiday in December.” The event is open to all GateWay students, faculty and staff to celebrate the near-completion of the fall semester. Join fellow students, faculty and staff for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., or dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. A great buffet with food, ranging from grilled chicken to pumpkin pie and more will be available. Cost is only $3 for students and $5 for faculty/staff. Entertainment is planned. 

Phoenix Symphony Performs on Campus

Following the Holiday Lunch on Dec. 5, the Phoenix Symphony Strings will perform from 2 to 3 p.m., in the Copper Room IE1302. Winter Break

You made it! The fall semester ends in less than two weeks. As a reminder the last day of regularly scheduled classes is on Friday, Dec. 14. The college is closed from Dec. 24 through Jan. 1, 2013, and will re-open Jan. 2, 2013. Have a fun and safe winter break. Classes resume again starting Jan. 14, 2013, with Saturday classes starting Jan. 12, 2013.

Reminder Dec. 10: Payments Due or Lose Your Place

For some, if you have not paid for classes for spring, you need to do so soon or you will lose your place in class. Here is how it works and what you need to do:

Credit & Non-Credit Courses Tuition: Tuition and fees need to be paid in full, have a payment plan selected, or financial aid awarded 35 days prior to your class start date during each semester.

Registration Fee of $15: The registration fee of $15 is due 33 days for term start date.

Payment can be made online or stop by Enrollment Services located in the new IE Building.

Learning Center is Here to Help

Having trouble studying for finals or feeling stressed? Come to the Learning Center on the second floor of IE2108 for FREE tutoring and help. Drop-in tutoring is available six days a week for multiple class subjects, no appointment required. All tutoring ends Dec. 13. Course and drop-in times are listed below:

  • Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Physics drop-ins: Mon-Thurs 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. & 2-5 p.m.
  • Math drop-ins: Mon-Thurs 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Fri 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., Sat 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Writing drop-ins: Mon-Thurs 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Fri 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

In addition, the Learning Center’s extended hours through Dec. 14 follow:

  • Mon-Thurs: 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Study Abroad in Prague

Traveling abroad as part of your studies will give you a different perspective on the world. Every summer, students from throughout the Maricopa Community College District have an opportunity to travel to Prague, Czech Republic. For information about traveling during summer 2013, monthly information sessions will be held, with this month’s on Dec. 6, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., at GateWay in MA1100N/S.
