The 2006 Sassaia is 80% Garganega and 20% Trebbiano. The wine reveals a perfumed core of ripe peaches, minerals, smoke, ash and earthiness in an expansive, generous style. The wine possesses lovely inner harmony in a quirky style. The deep color and super-traditional approach won't be for everyone but readers who enjoy pure unadulterated wines a la Gravner and Radikon should check these wines out. This wine needs to be opened at least an hour prior to serving to allow for the maximum expression of aromas to emerge.

The pinnacle of Provencal whites. White wines are a rarity in Bandol: Pibarnon's Blanc makes the case for more: an elegant, enticing blend of Clairette, Bourbolenc, and other local white grape varietals. Inviting aromas of jasmine, linden & hawthorn; bright, ripe flavors of apricots and white peach. A hint of white pepper and fresh almonds on the finish.
