BORDEAUX beckons!
Rediscover these better-than-ever classics! 2006 and 2008 are drinking beautifully now, and offer excellent value.
2008 CHATEAU LA DOMINIQUE St. Emilion Grand Cru Classe $50
"An unqualified sleeper of the vintage, the dark ruby/purple-tinged 2008 La Dominique reveals black olive, licorice, tobacco leaf, raspberry and kirsch liqueur characteristics. Deep and medium to full-bodied with supple tannins, an endearing texture and a lush, long, seamlessly constructed finish, this wine can be enjoyed now and over the next 10-12 years. 90 pts." - WA
2008 MALARTIC LAGRAVIERE Graves $50
"One of the most successful wines of the vintage, this blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot achieved 13.5% natural alcohol. It exhibits a deep ruby/purple color along with sweet notes of creosote, graphite, lead pencil shavings, black currants, plums and licorice. Medium to full-bodied and silky with good underlying acidity, it is a juicy, savory, quintessentially elegant wine, drink thru 2025+. 91 pts." - WA
2006 DOM. de CHEVALIER Pessac-Leognan $100
"The 2006, a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, is a revelation of sweet, lush, black raspberry and black currant fruit intermixed with subtle notes of scorched earth and barbecue spices. Round, luscious, sexy, and exceptionally complex, the wine is dominated by that smoky minerality that comes from this area. It is the quintessentially elegant yet substantial Pessac-Leognan with class, complexity, and potential. Despite wanting to drink most of the bottle when I was tasting it, I know it will be even better with 2-4 years of bottle age, and should keep for two decades. 92 pts." -- WA
2006 CALON-SEGUR St. Estephe $125
"A deep dark ruby/purple hue is accompanied by a sweet nose of black cherries, damp earth, and a hint of herbs. Medium-bodied with surprisingly soft tannin, no austerity, decent acidity, and a fruit-forward, fleshy personality, it should be accessible at an earlier age. 93 pts." -WA

You MUST try the MUSCADET!
One day in the not-too-distant future, we will longer have to say over and over: "Muscadet is a compelling DRY white wine." With an astonishing price-to-quality ratio, Muscadet should be a familiar go-to white for anyone who drinks sauvignon blanc or pinot grigio. Even easier to say than either of those, Muscadet remains a mystery to most. Why? The usual suspects: the grape is unfamiliar, the name is long and French, and it's often confused with sweet wines Muscat and Muscatel. We'll say it again: it's well w orth the small effort and price to get to know Muscadet! Plus, it's organically grown!
A new vintage from mustache over-achiever Mr. Jo Landron has arrived: just in time for early spring foods such as aparagus, or all seasons with our local oysters.
2013 JO LANDRON Muscadet S&M Amphibolite Nature $15.99 - Biodynamic (Loire Valley, France)
100% Melon de Bourgogne. Juicy tangerine and lime flavors are fresh, lively and clear, with a dusting of talc on the back end. Strikingly pure and very long on the finish, with lingering citrus pith and zest flavors. What are you waiting for?
2013 LA LOUVETRIE Muscadet Les Houx $14.99 Organic. (Loire Valley, France)
A classic expression of sur lie Muscadet. Citrus peel, pear and stone fruit, briny notes, a rich texture and racy acidity bring this organic bistro white to your table. Pair with lobster, oysters, chicken, pork and Asian dishes.

"Dark cherries, plums, tobacco and spices burst from the glass in an intense, structured Barolo that hits all the high notes. Next to the Ravera, the Bricco delle Viole is more floral, lifte d and finessed, especially with time in the glass. Rose petals, savory herbs and sweet spices add the last nuance of complexity. From Serralunga with love: BAUDANA Barolo
Just 4 hectares of impeccable fruit from two prestigious Serralunga vineyards, now vinified by G.D. Vajra. We are very fortunate to engage these Barolos of genuine terroir and power from such an expressive vintage. Highly recommended.
Dazzling, Explosive Power:
2010 LUIGI BAUDANA Barolo "Baudana" 95+ pts. $75; Special offer $63.75! ENDS MAR 28.

"The 2010 Barolo Baudana bursts from the glass with tons ofenergy and intensity. Black cherries, smoke, wild herbs, licorice and tar form a compelling backdrop of aromas, flavors and textures as this dazzling, explosive Barolo opens up in the glass. The huge, searing tannins are going to require time to settle, so readers need to be patient. This is a classic Serralunga Barolo built on power and structure. Hints of rose petal lavender and crushed rocks add nuance on the finish. 95+ pts." --A. Galloni, Vinous
Serralunga's Softer side:
2010 LUIGI BAUDANA Barolo "Cerretta" 95 pts. $75;
Special offer $63.75! ENDS MAR 28. "A darker and more voluptuous expression of Serralunga em erges from the 2010 Barolo Cerretta, which presents softer contours than the Baudana and the straight Barolo. Layers of expressive dark red fruit virtually cover the tannins in a Barolo built on texture and roundness. I imagine the Cerretta will drink well relatively young within the context of 2010 Barolo. 95 pts. " -- A. Galloni, Vinous

"Vivid purple. Ripe cherry, cassis, potpourri and cracked pepper on the intensely perfumed nose, with subtle licorice and woodsmoke qualities adding complexity. Deep, sweet and expansive, offering explosive dark berry compote, floral and anise flavors. This bottling has been going from strength to strength in recent years and offers superb value relative to its ritzy Pingus sibling. 94 pts." -- Vinous

Just a really good bottle....
THIS IS ALL that is left of a truly exceptional wine. This 2010 CHANDON de BRIAILLES Savigny le Beaune Les Lavieres 1er was so exquisitely enjoyable, we savored it to the very last drop. A perfect pairing with the Aldo Sohm coq au vin, this wine of understated elegance completely transformed a Tuesday night into a supremely memorable wine experience.
If you can't remember your last peak wine/food pairing, it's time to stop in...
