VINTAGES Wine Director, or Sommelier?
|
Eric Broege invited to be GUEST SOMMELIER at Craigie!
|
While you may know VINTAGES' Eric Broege as your local wine merchant, Eric is also recognized as a highly-regarded wine professional by sommeliers at the top restaurants in Boston. Recently, the restaurant CRAIGIE on MAIN in Cambridge invited Eric to be the Guest Sommelier for the dinner service on Sat. November 1! As Guest Sommelier, Eric will select the wine pairings for the restaurant's featured eight-course tasting menu. Further, Craigie staff invited Eric to make recommendations featuring the wines that are exclusive to VINTAGES, not just from their own wine list. Clearly, the restaurant has a great deal of confidence in Eric's wine selections and pairing expertise on a busy Saturday night. Congratulations to Eric for this recognition of his professional expertise and accomplishment, and congratulate yourself for having the good fortune and impeccable taste to have such an esteemed wine professional curating your wine purchases -- at far less than restaurant prices!

Tasting LA TOSA: Singular Purity of Fruit
|
WINE TASTING on SAT. NOV. 1, 1-5pm at both stores
|
Join us for a taste of LA TOSA: Precise aromas & purity of fruit: EXCLUSIVE!
LA TOSA has been one of our featured wineries for 15 years, an estate that is near and dear to our wine-soaked hearts. Located in Emilia-Romagna, Italy's bread basket and gastronomic center, La Tosa dwells under the outsized wine shadow of neighboring Tuscany. Why do we love La Tosa? It's simple -- there's no other winery that reveals the essence of a grape variety in such a pure, focused, primary manner -- think of color-field painters that covered large canvases with a single, saturated, gorgeous color that nearly vibrates with intensity and energy. And, we love LA TOSA wines because they are bursting with flavor, yet perfectly balanced.
Stefano Pizzamiglio of LA TOSA continually innovates in pursuit of wine perfection -- achieving precise aromas and purity of fruit.

|
2010 LE SALETTE AMARONE CLASSICO $55 Special 15% off! $46.75 Amarone is one of those iconic wines where bigger is always better, right? In the heart of Valpolicella, in the village of Fumane, Franco Scamperle of LE SALETTE sticks to his nearly singular conviction that Amarone should be elegant, graceful and refreshing, a wine to enjoy with a meal. Instead of port-like after-dinner reds, Franco's elegant Amarone Classico is a revelation of purity offering deep, plush cherry fruit and supple tannins. "Balance is the name of the game and this wine pulls it off flawlessly. ... dried fruit aromas of cherry backed by the luscious bounty of mocha, licorice and spice. The finish is long and smooth, and the wine is teaming with youth." -- WA. Amarone is a great pairing with roast pork, ham, osso bucco, and much more. 2010 Barolo Mosconi 95-V $105 ($89.25 in sampler)
'The 2010 Barolo Mosconi, the estate's first wine from this south-facing site in Monforte, is showing beautifully. 2010 E. PIRA Barolo Via Nuova 96-V $105 ($89.25 in sampler)

Crushed rose petals, mint, pine, licorice and sweet red berries all lift out of the glass in a fragrant, aromatically expressive Barolo of the highest level. The 2010 has it all; perfume, fruit, intense, crystalline salinity and bracing, chalky, young Nebbiolo tannins that will help the wine age gracefully for years. It is one of the wines of the vintage. 96 pts." -- Vinous
"Without a doubt, 2010 will be recorded as one of the great Barolo vintages of the past decades." -- WA

Galloni, Vinous 2010 CANTINA del PINO Barbaresco Ovello 96 pts. $60 "Showing great persistency and length, the 2010 Barbaresco Ovello is an extremely elegant and refined expression w ith crushed flowers, forest fruit and strong mineral definition.
