Counting

I recently cleaned out my closet. I counted way too many shirts and shoes. I whole-heartedly agree with Joshua Becker's statement above - the freedom of less is much preferred to the time and effort of excess. I also know that the number of shirts and shoes I own are not what matters in life.

I want to spend more time focusing on what counts, not what can be counted. Time with God, time with my family, time with friends, time reading and learning, time resting, time leading others to Christ, time mentoring others - those are things that count but can't be counted.

What about you? Are you so focused on the counting that you are missing what counts? Spend some time this week on what counts. And maybe even clean a closet or two. You won't regret it.

This week our "Basic Training" is about the Bible being more than just a storybook, it is THE greatest book. What Christians must use it to live strong for God. Through our story from Matthew 4:1-11, children will learn through the examples of Jesus on what we should do when Satan is trying to tempt us. They will see how Jesus uses scriptures from the Bible as his guide and blueprint for what God wants us to do.

I am special, and you are too.

There are lots of boys and girls, you see.

But there is nobody that's just like me!

Our focus this week is for the child to be able to tell that God created people.
