Encounters

"Now we believe, not just because of what you told us, but because we have heard him ourselves. Now we know that he is indeed the Savior of the world."

(John 4:42 NLT)

The people of Samaria encountered Jesus and were changed as a result. Although they witnessed the change in the Woman at the Well, that was not the reason they believed. They believed because of a personal encounter with Jesus.

The New Testament is full of people who were changed after they met Jesus. Many were healed, others raised from the dead, some like Nicodemus and Zacheus changed their worldview. Saul's encounter with Christ not only changed his purpose in life but also his very identity - Paul. Race, gender, religion, background, family history, political preference, or standing in society did not matter. Every person who encountered Jesus had the opportunity to be changed.

Two people come to mind that had the opportunity but didn't change as a result of meeting Jesus - the rich young ruler and one of the thieves crucified with Jesus. They chose not to follow Him.

So what about you? Have you encountered Jesus and believed or turned away sorrowful because of the cost of believing? I pray today that you choose to believe and allow your encounter with Jesus to change your life.

Camp time has arrived!! Registration are now open! Forms are available in the Main office or on the Christ Church website. Due to changes this year, camp spaces are reserved on a First Come, First Serve basis, so forms and $125 deposit need to be turned in as soon as possible.

This week we start a new series titled "Never Too Young" that helps teach kids about doing Big things for God and Changing the world.

In our first lesson, children learn about a young Bible hero named Timothy. He was very young, but the Apostle Paul saw incredible potential in him and asked him to join his missionary journey. Timothy agreed. He preached all around the world, planted churches, and was an example to all believers. God used Timothy to do many things, and each of us can do BIG things too.
