In sure and certain hope of the resurrection, we share with you the news of the death of one of our retired synodical pastors, the Rev. A. Roger Gobbel. Ordained in 1950, Pastor Gobbel died on October 17, 2015, at the age of 89.

A Celebration of the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 2:00 p.m., at the Church of Abiding Presence, The Lutheran Theological Seminary, 61 Seminary Ridge, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Visitation with the family will be held at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow the service.

Pastor Gobbel is survived by his wife Gertrude (Trudy); his children, Karl Alan and his wife Tina, Karin Jill Gobbel, and Kristin Holly Gobbel-Swanson and her husband B. Lars Swanson; one grandson; brother Harold; sister Jo Carrol Counts; and a stepsister Shirley McMichael-Tanner. He was predeceased by his brother Henry. Memorial contributions may be made to The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, 61 Seminary Ridge, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
