St. Peter's Lutheran Church Partners with Thrivent Financial for Community Meals
Members from the North York County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans host a Community Meal each Second Sunday to help community members in the greater York area who need a meal and to generate fellowship in our neighborhood.    The Community Meals are held in the Social Hall of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 947 N. George St. York PA 17404 each Second Sunday of the month from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. All are welcome. The event seeks to reach out to the North York and York City community and surrounding areas in the name of Jesus Christ.
Participants enjoy a simple hot meal, table conversation, and a warm welcome. In November, a special Thanksgiving meal will be served and reservations are requested so that enough food is prepared. All meals are free of charge. To make a reservation please call the church office no later than the Monday prior to the meal: (717) 854-0589. To become a partner in this effort or to donate toward it, please call Pastor Schlegel at the church.

Technology for Mission                     ...after the Event
Technology for mission is changing with lightning speed. It seems like not so long ago that 16mm films were the standard. And then there were VHS recordings, quickly replaced by DVD technology. Now, almost any resources is available with a few keystrokes on an array of digital devices. Changing ways of communicating means change for our congregations, too. On Saturday, October 12, folks from around our synod gathered to learn more about using new digital technology and social media to enhance congregational ministry and mission. The Rev. Eric Shafer of Odyssey Networks brought his experience and insights to the table, even connecting participants for conversation with the Rev. David Hansen from Prairie Hill Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas, via Google+ Hangouts. Breakout sessions offered offered more time for questions, resource sharing, and discussion. So what now? Did you miss the event? Still have unanswered questions? Want to take your media ministry to the next level? We can help! Here's how to get started:
 1. Join the LSS Techformission Facebook Group . You'll find handy tips, links to resources, and a place to ask questions and get answers from colleagues. 2. Visit our synod's Resource Center. Director of Resource Ministries Pam Drenner can help you find plenty good tools. One place to start is Meredith Gould's new book The Social Media Gospel: Sharing the Good New in New Ways . 3. Click here to check out Eric Shafer's PowerPoint presentation from the event. 4. Invite one our synod staff members to visit your congregation or conference to discuss digital media and how you can get started or increase your presence. Contact Rev. Sharron Blezard at 652-1852, ext. 102 for more information. 5.
