Mission & Ministry Updates!
Lutherans Building in West Virginia | Lebanon Lutheran Mission Team |
The Lebanon Lutheran Mission Team is in Pendleton County, West Virginia, this week with a group of 68 people working for Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity. This year the team decided to take on a blitz build, which is akin to a barn raising here. By combining their skills and abilities to serve others through a hands-on project, this group of Lutherans from our synod is making a tangible difference. Members on the trip are from Holy Trinity Lutheran in Lebanon, Zion Lutheran in Lebanon, Zion Lutheran in Jonestown, Salem Lutheran in Lebanon, St. James Lutheran in Lebanon, and Trinity Lutheran in Colebrook. Please keep our sisters and brothers in Christ in prayer for good work and safe travel as they serve as Christ's hands and hearts.
Loading Day!
Pastor Anne-Rose Reeves reports that Tech4tanzania loaded and sent over 28,000 pounds of supplies to the Konde Diocese. The container arrived at Mission Central in the early hours on June 13, and was was packed with 110 computers and accessories, a pallet of sewing machines, 3000 plus collegiate textbooks, loads of science and medical equipment for SHUCo's new nursing track and lots of soccer balls and textbooks for Manow Jr. seminary. SHUCois the newest college affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, located in the Konde Diocese, and brand-spanking new, offering degrees in IT, education, and, after the container arrives, in nursing. Tech4tanzania has its origins at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Enola and now includes many ecumenical partners including Slate Hill Mennonite Church, Tree of Life Lutheran Church, the United Methodist Church (through Mission Central), Messiah College and more. Thanks to all who helped make it happen.

Planning a Rally Day Celebration in September?
Consider this.
"God's work. Our hands." Sunday
September 8, 2013
"God's work. Our hands." Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate our 25th anniversary as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America - one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.
We are a church that rolls up our sleeves and gets to work. On September 8, 2013, let's join together as 4 million members, nearly 10,000 congregations, 65 synods and the churchwide expression for a dedicated day of service.
Let's clean up neighborhoods, deliver meals, collect supplies for refugees overseas, visit our neighbors or help a child learn to read.
You work every day to welcome your neighbors and make your community a better place. Now let's do it together as one body, using our hands to do God's work of restoring and reconciling communities in Jesus Christ's name throughout the world.
