Congratulations to the Rev. Amani Mwaijande, ELCT Konde Diocese, who will receive his STM degree from Gettysburg Seminary on May 17, 2013.
Graduation is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Eucharist is at 4:00 p.m. with pre-service music beginning at 3:30 p.m. Send cards and letters to Pastor Mwaijande at 61 Seminary Ridge, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
Pastor Mwaijande will return to Tanzania the week following graduation. It has been a joy and a privilege to have him among us these past 18 months.
We wish him God's blessings for safe travel as he returns home. May God bless his ministry with lasting fruit. May the peace and joy of the Risen Lord be with him and his family always.

We continue to pray for the Rev. Betsy Lartz as she recovers from surgery treatment to remove a brain tumor. Pastor Lartz is a patient at Harrisburg Hospital, but has been released from intensive care. Messages of care and concern can be sent to Pastor Lartz at Harrisburg Hospital, 111 S. Lutheran Night at the Senators was a big hit! 500+ Lutherans in attendance nets $2,000 for Lutheran Camping Corporation.
The crowd went wild as Bishop Hoover and his grandson, Grant, approached the mound to pitch the first ball at the Senators game at Metro Bank Park, Harrisburg on Friday, May 3. It was a winning night for the Lutheran Camping Corporation and the home team as the Senators beat the Binghamton Mets with a score of 3-1. |

Martine Joseph will be ordained in the holy ministry of Word and Sacrament during a Celebration of Holy Eucharist on Sunday, May 19, at 4:00 p.m. Bishop Hoover will preach and preside at the Eucharist and the rite of ordination which will take place at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 W. Main Street, Hummelstown.
Martine has been called to serve Simeon United Lutheran Church, Gratz, in the Upper Dauphin Conference. Rostered leaders are invited to vest and process. The color of the day is red. A light reception will follow the service in the church Fellowship Hall. |

Lutherans in Dauphin celebrate Volunteer Week.

Zion Lutheran Church, Dauphin, celebrated "Inspire by Example" National Volunteer Week on April 21 with recognition of local volunteers during worship followed by a volunteer fair. Twenty-five non-profit organizations were represented by the congregation's members and community friends. In addition, the congregation presented the Ray Dively, Jr., Award of Excellence in Volunteer Service award to Jack Rudy. Jack donates over 500 hours of volunteer service annually and is a member of the local Lions Club.
