Prayer Requests

We continue to pray for those who are affected by the violence in Boston.  Prayer and worship resources are available now on the ELCA website.

We offer prayers for comfort and healing for...
  • The Rev. William Karns (retired), a patient in York Hospital.
  • The Rev. John Fehringer (retired),  a patient in intensive care at York Hospital.
  • The Rev. Scott Davis (St. Paul, Penryn) as he recovers from sinus surgery.

We extend our deepest sympathy and prayers for comfort to the family of Juanita Ruths.  Juanita, wife of the Rev. Arthur Ruths (retired) and mother of Joel Ruths (synod office Information Technology consultant), died early this morning.  Please remember the Ruths family in your prayers that God may comfort them with the good news of the Resurrection.

World Malaria Day
April 25

NetStStephenHelp swat out malaria!  The Lower Susquehanna synod Malaria Campaign Task Force encourages synod congregations to lift up the ELCA Malaria Campaign at worship services and faith formation events on Sunday, April 28.  Go to www.lss-elca.org/resources/malaria for project ideas, children's sermons, skits songs and other ideas tried and tested by our sister congregations.

As of April 1, our synod has raised $126,102.93 toward our goal of $500,000.  Remember: for every $10 we raise, we save the lives of a family of four.  $10 is the cost to provide a family of four with a treated mosquito net that can cover four persons.  $500,000 can save 200,000 lives!
