Do you know where you will be the weekend of October 28-29, 2017 ? We hope, with the rest of the Class of '67 for our 50th Reunion!
Plans are beginning to take shape: Saturday night at Leonard's and a brunch on Sunday. We plan to arrange a block of rooms at the Inn at Great Neck for a special price, as well.
We're hoping for a record turnout! So please mark your calendars now and talk it up among the high school friends you still keep in touch with!
We'll be sending out an early registration email after Labor Day to help us raise funds to pay for early expenses. We have a payment due for Leonard's in October.

Memories of Leonard's
Paul Lester: I had my Bar Mitzvah at Leonard's on January 12, 1963 (and several of my then 8th grade Great Neck South Junior High School classmates attended-all of them graduated with us in 1967).
Ralph Katz: 50 years ago we held our senior dinner there, entertainment and all. I happen to remember because I was made the MC for the night.
Sue Greenberg Piper: Those of us Russell Garden residents who lived on the "Kensington" side can recall looking at the back of Leonards-- then a massive pink wall so ugly that my family affectionately called it "Melvins."
Do you have a memorable moment at Leonard's? Send it (and any old photos) to susangpiper@gmail.com for inclusion in the next newsletter. |
We are #1 on North Shore!
North Shore
high schools receive top ranks in national list
Six North Shore high schools were ranked in the top 300 in U.S. News & World Report's annual survey.
Great Neck South High School was the highest North Shore school on the list, ranking as the 136th best high school in the country and 19th best in the state.
Almost 94 percent of non-disadvantaged students were "proficient" in state English Language Arts and Math exams, while nearly 84 percent of disadvantaged students were "proficient" in the state tests, according to the survey. The school also received a 78 out of 100 in its "college-readiness" score and had a 98 percent graduation rate.
