Event News You Can Use
May/June 2014

Hello, Happy Tuesday!

They say "time flies when you're having fun" ... or in my case, just really busy!  I'm pretty sure that I blinked and May was over.  Fortunately, it was eventful ... see the May Mayhem' article below!

June hasn't slowed down too much either.  On June 5, I graduated from Leadership Fairfax - yeah! That's my team, the Purple Team, in the graduation photo above.   We're all smiling because we survived our May Program Day.  If you're interested in participating in Leadership Fairfax, please give me a call.  It's a great program that I highly recommend for community engagement.

I have a few events in the works that I look forward to sharing with you later this summer.  Until then, I'm sharing  inspiring ideas from smaller celebrations occurring this month below.

As always, thank you for reading, commenting on and sharing my news!

{real events} May Mayhem

My spring event season culminated in one week ... including three back-to-back events.  Here's a snapshot of the fun:

Ambassador's Dinner
100 guests enjoyed sushi & saki, a jazz piano performance and seated dinner with program on US-Japanese relations
to benefit the annual cherry blossom festivities in DC.

Foundation Gala
450 guests including 60+ corporate sponsors attended this patriotic military black-tie celebration at the National Building Museum.

Leadership Fairfax (LFI) May Program Day
My team was tasked to define "the invisible faces in Fairfax County." For the afternoon session on domestic violence victims, I assembled an all-star panel to discuss opportunities for sector collaboration in our community. [L-R: Joe Meyer, executive director of Shelter House; Supervisor John Cook, Braddock District; David Ginsberg, lawyer with Cooper Ginsberg Gray; and Sandy Bromley, domestic violence coordinator for Fairfax County].

Ideas from smaller events I'm working on this month ...

Graduation Sail-ebration - party designed for a HS graduate who loves sailing.  Nautical details included ...  flowers tucked inside a lantern; sailboat table centerpiece; chevron "wave" linens; and "keep calm and sail on" grad beverage napkins.

Girl Scout Bridging Ceremony - my multi-level troop is bridging tonight.  Each girl will receive this adorable souvenir certificate (found on etsy.com).

End of School Teacher Gift - "Orange You Glad Its Summer" teacher's gift inspired by local event planner, Keisha Sibert.  Goodies include $1 orange items from Michaels and Target plus orange drink, orange candy and my personal favorite, sunscreen from Target conveniently packaged in orange.
