Adolescence is an exciting and turbulent time for many of our teens. It is at this age that many of our children start dating. Many parents I meet are surprised that teen relationships are sometimes abusive. In a nationwide survey, 9.4 percent of high school students reported being hit, slapped, or physically hurt on purpose by their boyfriend or girlfriend in the 12 months prior to the survey. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2011 Youth Risk Behavior Survey).

Intern Information
ACS Marriage and Family Therapist Interns must meet specific standards in order to be accepted into our highly competitive clinical internship and training program. They must be enrolled in or have completed a Masters, Ph.D. or Psy.D. program, have experience with youth, and must be well-versed in various types of behavioral therapies. They undergo a 2-step interview process that ensures the most highly qualified candidates are working with the youth and families ACS serves!
