e-newsletter: helping LGBTQQ youth thrive
Spotlight On!
Lowell Reade, Outlet Volunteer
How do you identify? As queer
How did you become involved with Outlet and why? I became involved as a volunteer with Outlet when I moved back to the Bay Area to work at Apple, after grad school in Pennsylvania. Outlet deeply impacted my life as a youth when I attended the youth groups. I was excited to be able to give back to such a great organization and support  our current generation of LGBTQ youth.
Why do you think Outlet services are important?
I think Outlet's services are important because they provide a space for youth to 100% be themselves, and to be surrounded by fellow youth they can relate to. Outlet provides a safe space to explore your identity, whether that means trying out new names or talking about challenges coming out.
What is your favorite part of volunteering for Outlet?
My favorite part of volunteering at Outlet comes from realizing how much I can learn about myself from the incredible youth. I look forward to seeing them every week!
Do you have a most memorable or favorite moment you want to share?
One of my favorite moments as a volunteer was our Halloween party. The youth showed up in awesome costumes and helped each other out with makeup and costumes. One of them even made me a costume!
